Speculation: 2026-27 Trade/FA thread/Roster Thread - Waiting for the SCF to be over….

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
This offseason is looking like a rehash of Bob Murray offseasons.

"We tried but the deals were too expensive and didn't make sense."
"I have confidence in our group."
The draft hasn't even happened yet, give him another few days at least before getting too pessimistic imo.

Problem there being Werenski will want nothing to do with Chicago. He's not asking out of Columbus to go to a worse team.
I wonder what we could hypothetically package for Werenski. Having him and LaCombe on separate pairings would be a real coup. Sadly it'd probably take Sennecke + and I'm just not sure we have the forward depth for that.

You are 100% correct........ BUT people said the same thing in BM's defense every time too. I do believe PV will be active in the near future. I'm not sure whether his activity will put us closer to winning next year or 3 years from now though.

If I’m pat verbeek im calling Kyle up right now

W/ mctavish
What would you want from Chicago? I can't see them giving us Frondell, Nazar, or Vlasic, and outside of that I don't love any of their pieces. That KHL winger sounds nice but doesn't seem like a Pat move.

Beeker has shown he will make big deals. He isn’t comparable to bargain bob at all.

I'm guessing Werenski is going to have the same kind of lists Tkachuk and Larkin had. However Columbus did like McT in his draft year. If Werenski were to force Anaheim on Columbus we might be able to pull McT+Minty+2 1sts.

I definitely don't think Pat is risk adverse like BM was, BM never would have traded our first rounder this early into our team's ascendancy. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Plus outside of perhaps Kyrou were we really in on any of these guys being dealt? Maybe Nemec but it would have been super risky to beat Calgary's offer for a questionable player.

Chances the beeker liked nemec imho are close to 0

I don't think we'd have been in on any of the players dealt but that 9th pick for McT would have made a lot of sense.

TBF didn't Larkin add us to his revised list of 6, or was that just a rumor? I could see players like ZW interested in us if he's willing to pay some taxes. The competitive teams in tax free or low tax states can only absorb so many star player salaries. At least the high CA taxes are somewhat offset by the nice lifestyle.

He did not. I've heard he expanded it to Dallas. Utah and Anaheim were teams the Detroit beat writer said could offer fair deals if he were to expand it.
