What would be a homerun but doesn’t help us now or address RD:

Dvorsky/Neigbors+Carboneau+29th overall
Dvorsky is the same profile player as Mctavish, or Neighbors would add a nice physical element. Carboneau give us a future big upside player. 29th gives ammo to Madden.

What I wouldn’t like as much but Verbeek would do:
Buchnevich+15th/16th
Beeker likes veterans, Madden said the top 15 looks very good. Buch helps us with production now, we get a redo pick.

And it seems like they really don’t want him in the East because surely Ottawa would’ve loved to get him with the 9th pick and Buffalo might love to get him with the 4th so why are they focused on the 7th?

The rumored asking price from Chicago for Knies was 4 AND Frondell/Nazar. The Dallas talks were for 7 and another "roster player".
