Andreas Skov Olsen from Club Brugge to Wolfsburg for €14M (plus bonusses)

The good: brilliant left foot, has a knack for scoring world class goals, is a bit of a poor man's Robben in that everyone knows he will cut inside and put it far corner yet can't seem to stop him

The bad: doesn't really like to run or press a lot, isn't too physical and avoids man to man contact, and above all has a somewhat difficult character when things don't go his way. He gets unhappy really quickly..at least he did in Brugge

I think he was hoping to leave for a big club last year after putting up phenomenal stats but that didn't happen, I think most clubs saw the red flags and didn't want to pay the price tag Brugge put on him (25+ mil) so now he just wanted to go no matter what...I think, and Brugge didn't want to make him even more unhappy

TFC got some business done this week as well, they also confirmed Insigne will be staying put for this season.

Quite aside from the general wtf, didn't Chelsea force them to get rid of deals like that? or did they just disincentivise them from an accounting pov?

Most rumors say he’s around 500k/week wages as a base and with bonuses might climb near 700k/week.

You just can’t amortize a transfer fee over a longer deal, but in the case of an extension that’s not an issue.

Also one big thing this gives a hint at is the charges against City and at least an assumed cap on the punishments.

Haaland isn’t signing a long term deal to be relegated or even just be a mid table squad, so you have to figure it at least means City internally don’t think the resolution will have much impact on their operations.

Or theyre trying to lock down a big star to keep him from running in the event of serious punishment?

It's not that IMO.

The amortization of the transfer fee in the FFP & PSR compliance can only be amortized for 5 years. They therefore prevent the long contract loop hole. Nothing to do with extensions and in their official financial book (not to do with FFP/PSR) they can still amortize it over whatever number of year they want (based on the contract length), for taxes purposes.

Right PSR/FFP aren’t the same as tax accounting. But frankly tax accounting is pretty irrelevant to anyone but the government. It doesn’t practically impact what they’re doing in terms of footballing business.

Would be hilarious to see Haaland struggling in the toughest league of them all, the Championship.
