Speculation: 2025 Trade/Free Agency Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Some crazy fan reactions today...I mean buying at these prices for what is probably a 5-10% chance of making the playoffs? SMH.
Yeah the prices right now on 'this years trade market' are so bad that the Ducks would set themselves back a few years if they make any big buys.
I think the Ducks would be in the playoffs had Murray sold Lindholm/Rakell when they were worth more and the Ducks would have bottomed out sooner and possibly gotten Hughes, Stutzle, Power.

I’ll be that guy to point out the combined zero playoff games from Stutzle and Power, and there was a zero % chance of burning it down in ‘17-18 to get Quinn Hughes, and very close to zero% chance to be lucky enough to win the lottery to get Jack, who’s been once.

We would just be differently bad.

Meh - he's the definition of unremarkable. Good guy tho
I don't disagree, steady bottom pair guy and that's probably about it. I just like to see when players, especially ones who have had a lot of setbacks and challenges in their development, earn and lock up financial security for themselves and their family. Even if it is a more modest NHL salary.

3rd worse got the Jack Hughes pick after the lottery. Firing Carlyle that year hurt the tank a lot.
Could have moved Lindholm and Rakell at the deadline.

Lindholm and Rakell were in the 2nd years of their contracts at that point. No team in the league would have sold those players off instead of re-signing them after a 103 point season, and selling off core players who are nowhere near a contract extension in 2018-19 also isn’t realistic.

Imagine zegras to Vegas. God, imagine if getzlaf actually did end up there. Oof, awful.

VGK definitely gonna make a decent move, at least you would have to think so.

Broadcasters must hate that teams have migrated most trades to the weeks and days before deadline.
