Speculation: 2025 Trade/Free Agency Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

GOD DAMNIT... Sharks got Ostapchuk... Sharks continue to kill it.

I was praying the Senators would be interested in Lundy/Leason/Fabbri. I wanted a young guns line of Cutter-Ostapchuk-Goalngelo

Yeah, based on these current prices I'd would have thought a 1st would be involved.

Man, I was scouring the league for that big centerman who could win faceoffs and would likely be moved and really hoped we were in on Ostapchuk. But obviously Zetterlund was a big get for Ottawa.

Welp... I guess Verbeek slept in today.

to be fair to Verbeek he just doesn't have much to work with this year, and for good reason. Fabbri injury was a nail in the coffin for that deal likely. Leason and Lundy don't have much value and don't necessarily need to be traded now. Gibson injury likely scares off buyers and is a hard deal to make regardless. and who knows what the deal really is with Z. the rest of the roster is practically all young players who shouldn't be traded.

the only vets on the team are Gudas (should be kept and traded next deadline situationally), Trouba (should be kept and traded next deadline situationally), Killorn (minimal value and term), Strome (term and should be kept since he can occasionally win faceoffs), and Vatrano (re-signed). Next year can be a decent deadline with Trouba and Gudas as potential pieces but this one was always going to be dependent on solely Dumo, Fabbri and Gibby really.
