2025 Trade Deadline

No idea who this guy is but there's no way Carolina trades him to us, it's one thing to admit it went bad and have egg on your face about having to trade him but trading him to anyone in the division that's in the playoff hunt is even worse, just don't see it happening. He'll probably end up back out west somewhere if they move him.
OR your so confident in the return, the player not fitting in with us and/or killing our cap it you feel confident in lobbing a bomb over to NJ.

Like I said in the other thread, would take some giant stones to make the trade but it would be fun to see the fallout for years

I didn’t think Ratanen was seriously in play but now it’s a done deal of Dallas can work out a contract. Crazy.

I didn’t think Petterson was seriously in play either but it’s a crazy world right now.

No Laughton
No Mittelstadt
No Palms

We avoided Nelson which is good. If we can stay away from these players I'll be happy, at least that we avoided these players lol.

Mittelstadt is completely fine if the team sees him as the next 3C for the forseeable future

As for this season, we need someone else ontop of that deal to help us out

i do agree with you he wont be traded here but personally if i'm trading i'm taking the best package i dont care who and where it is.

They can trade him to Dallas who can then trade him to us. Easy. Unless there is some time limit of how quickly a player can be traded after a trade.

Maybe we take Colton or Mittelstadt to help them make room? I’d even retain salary for an asset again, might as well.

Yes, I did misread that and thought he said they were in on him.

goal for today improve the team to make the playoffs this year. bonus points if the player isn't a rental but its not a deal breaker. i dont care what picks are needed either just improve the team.

any rental could always be brought back in the summer

I second this. Please do stress further.

I get it, he's a retread so everyone assumes it isn't worth what the cost will be. But we are remembering how badly we are struggling to finish correct? And that was before Jack went down.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones who wouldn't mind this.
Same. All he did was score when he was here and now that we are having trouble scoring we don’t want him back?

I just don't want to spend already thin assets on a pure rental or short term help. Especially when those assets are going to the same division. I think there are hockey trades out there that could make us better in the long run and not just this season. A season in which the playoffs aren't a guarantee.

I think it's pretty clear that Rantanen is not going to sign an extension before testing the market unless someone blows him out of the water (15M AAV).

Since that's not going to happen, teams are going to view him as a true rental and only be willing to pay accordingly.
