Some good and some bad. The good moments he’s been as expected. The bad he hasn’t always been as involved offensively as you’d want. The defending probably hasn’t been below expectations, but the offensive impact hasn’t always been there as it should.
I'm always late on this thread since I end up watching all the games I recorded before jumping on here but Perreault really found his game there. Just made smart passes to set up goals without complicating or forcing anything. With Leonard and Hagens also having really strong games it fills that check mark of the first line doing what needs to be done heading into the semis and medal games.
I still consider the Czechs a favorable match up, but it's far from the sure thing it had been for many years. We used to consistently blow them out for many years from my memory, but I could certainly see this being a tight and competitive game.

Doesn't have anywhere near the speed of McKinnon. He is a Kyle Palmieri on steroids and that's not a disservice to Leonard. Take his best NHL totals and add 20% to his Goals and Assists. That's what Leonard can be consistently a 30G and 35A player.
It is amazing how good Finland & Sweden are given populations.
Think of US limited to just Mass against Finland in upcoming Olympics, or Mass & Minn against Sweden.

As a Caps fan, if Leonard can consistently put up 30g-35a and make life hell for the opposing teams I’ll be thrilled. If there was a year for the Caps to be bad and finally get a top pick again I’m glad it was in a year where they could get a player like him that also fits their team identity so well.
Buium is the best overall D on the US. Is capable of outplaying any Dman in the tourney
any given game.

If MASS had a dedicated pro league with protectionist policies for local players (even if the best eventually move on to broader U.S./Canada once they are pros) along with U-20, U-18 and feeder teams to feed into them and a dedicated national sporting federation and hockey specific federation designed to grow the game and maximize results with “national” teams that start playing together when they are 16, you would likely get better results from “Team Massachusetts” than if you just cobbled together a team last second.
Full day off so it shouldn't matter at all. Be more of a concern for Finals for team that wins Saturday night.

I grew up in Mass during the Orr boom and my son played hockey at a very good Public HS. I wish the Minnesota model was followed in Mass more. He played in the Super 8 his Jr year and was NCAA D3 recruited. I ran his group in Town Middle School for 2 years and Town Midgets for one year. Adding his Senior Varsity year, those 3 years he had players who ended up playing in Hockey East (3), Atlantic Hockey Conf (2), USHL (1) and QMJHL (1). That included a Hockey East Captain and Hockey East Asst Captain. Think its better to keep the levels town focused and let these kids play AAA in summer and after HS season.

Yeah he has and that's fine with me. Two biggest games ahead and if each plays to their max or close to it that's a big problem for whoever they play.

Buium has been much better defensively. But hard to argue against what Hutson has provided offensively. Buium has had to take on more of a stay-at-home role, and it took him a bit to adjust. He’s been especially good on the PK
Hagens and Hensler are the only ones who could have done this. Hagens is already a top 2 pick and Hensler's position has not changed one way or the other in my opinion.

Welp, just a few hours away. Canada crowd will be salty af! You would think they would cheer for us since they will be our 51st state, but they can't help themselves lol.
Just play our game. No need to change anything besides keeping cool and stay out of the box best we can. I would like to see our depth step up today and have a decisive game and not have everything ride on our top line.
Our defense has been strong the past few games. Mainly giving up distance chances. Buium and Ralph have been excellent in our own zone. Hutson has arguably been our best player overall, oozing confidence.

Buium showed how dynamic and skilled he is in the Switzerland game. Made great plays in the offensive zone and joined the rush a few times to either score or primary assist. His defensive play has looked good as well.
Hutson has been the better PP QB throughout the tournament though.
