Chiarot is a decent player. He needs to be used in a way that plays to his strengths. I feel like he's a little bit of Brad Stuart. Steady, reliable, physical, and a great compliment to someone else's game.

Yeah, but he’s played like that player for about 20 games in Detroit. Bad coach or not, he needs a lot more games like this to reclaim that status. Not saying he can’t do it, but dudes’s been rubbish in Detroit for long enough that he has a steep redemption arc.

Yeah. We'll see of course. I do hope that this round of trying this pairing might be Ben finally realizing that he's not playing with a rookie, he's playing with a damn superstar in the making.

I bet you that he is.

Even after I rolled over my company 401k, I still watch the stock and want it to tank, lol, and I'm pretty sure it will soon.
I had this image in my head of him with a bottle in his hand just raged outta his mind watching it in his living room lol

Imagine being Stevie and having fire him in person. Wish we knew the details of how that went down.

I suspect it will have to filter in over some period of time. Doesn't strike me as ever quickly re-assessing his conclusions.
So true.

If he doesn't realize it though, he'll never get hired even as an assistant. It's very clear that he demoralized the team, and every GM in the league is going to be aware of the turnaround if Todd makes the playoffs.

We all know what happens to "locker room cancer", and he was the biggest one. Too bad Stevie removed a few extra organs before excising the tumor(s).

I believe a lot of it has to do with personel.

I know I know. But it’s the reality. But I do agree he needs to keep this up in order to be considered good again. I do believe that and I still think he’s solid. I’m probably the minority but I wouldn’t mind resigning him presuming he keeps this play up. Our d core will improve and he’ll be slotted accordingly which would help too.

He reminds me of a Brad Stuart. I think someone else said that too earlier.

Idk I think he gets to much hate.

Not only is Lalonde watching the games, he's enjoying seeing them play well. People don't realize the investment coaches make in genuinely just wanting their players to do well. He's a quality person in a business where you don't burn bridges by throwing tantrums and blaming others for not getting the job done. I would bet the meeting with SY was quiet and amicable if probably a little uncomfortable for both of them. They both know it had to be done after the no-show in Montreal.

I think it’s hard to state just how good of a season seider is having, he’s on pace for 50+ points, 200+ hits and almost 200 blocked shots. That is unheard of to have a guy who can do all of that as a defenseman. The game has opened up a lot recently so theres a lot of defenseman who can go over PPG now but I’d argue guys who can score 50 points and delve out as much physical punishment as seider can, are just as rare.

Maybe it is just me, but Seider looks like rookie Seider again more to me. I always thought that Lalonde and/or Boughner were maybe an issue with Seider as his style changed big time, but the past 4 games he looks like "old" Seider to me. Seider was always at his best when he plays a more creative type style with the puck and taking some chances, rather than the ring it around the boards that became commonplace under the past duo. Yes, sometimes he will make a mistake with it, but most of the time, the more slow creative approach wins the day.

I do still think we lift off the gas a little too soon as we don't keep attacking like we do in the 1st period and especially against the skill teams like the Jets I think it is better to keep attacking rather than playing more cautious as those teams have lots of skill and eventually they will score.

That said, this teams skating and energy level is night and day difference with McLellan. Patrick Kane in particular was not skating this hard at any point under Lalonde this season. He at least skates back hard so far into our zone, which wasn't happening at all.

Also, I think we have outshot our opponent in all 5 games under Todd, which I didn't think this team was capable of honestly. Larkin also looks revitalized.

Chris Pronger probably was the last one.

Haha, Lyon. "I made them shoot at the posts."
4? 5?
Bruins lost, rangers too. Blue jackets won.
2 points behind Ottawa and 4 behind Bruins. Game in hand on Bruins.
6 points behind the Bruins and 2 games in hand.
I keep thinking teams will eventually figure out how to exploit the match up against Veleno but bro hasn't gotten into too much trouble.
I think he has done a great job there.
Why did Johansson get replaced on the 2nd pair by Holl in the 3rd period?

I thought he was great; didn't make a single mistake the entire game. Holl was of course right in front of the net on their 2nd goal in the 3rd too.

And you barely even notice Kasper in the game? How horrible does Copp have to play to lose that spot?
He was on the ice for both their goals and his turnover led directly to their 1st goal.
However he has been solid for 10ish games. Or maybe not solid, but not as terrible as he used to be.

I like Chiarot a lot. But I am probably the only one on the board.

The team looks great and is improved a lot, but there are 2 things that we are terrible at.
1. Odd man rushes. Sometimes we don't get even a shoot on goal, sometimes the pass even does not connect. Did anyone notice how brutal we are.
2. I forgot this one, will edit the post later when I figure it out.
And now I remember. We have to be better at deflection.

So deflection and odd man rushes.
