Thought it was also interesting that Blake brought up Helenius when asked about center depth.

He certainly made it seem like Helenius will be in the lineup pretty regularly down the stretch. I like it. Big body, young, skates well, hits people, can fight (but won't win).

I do wonder what that means for Turcotte though. I can't imagine they're thinking Lewis is coming out of the lineup and we know Jeannot is staying in.

Jeannot - Helenius - Lewis seems like the 4th line they have in mind. Which would probably mean Turcotte is the odd man out with the Kuzy add.

Wouldn't mind to see Turcotte - Helenius - Jeannot as the 4th line though. That group could actually be pretty solid together.

The official Kings discord server.

I grant you discord is a chaotic mess and I barely understand it but what I have observed in my time on the server (evidently I am the liason?) is that they are relentlessly positive. They are PROUD of how positive they are and they will aggressively moderate and curate the server to make it uncomfortable for fans who chose to be relentlessly negative.

It is by design a place for people to be positive.

EDIT: And when I say by design... NOT by design of the LA Kings its by the design of the self selecting moderators and users and I've had conversations with fans in person who were made to feel uncomfortable and ultimately left the server because of the relentless positivity.
Nothing says positivity like TOXIC positivity. Lol.

I will get flamed for this but that was actually one of Blake's better media sit downs. He seems like a different guy, more relaxed when Luc is not around. I would love ten years down the road to see him sit down and spill the truth. Was it him that was behind all these moves, was there meddling from Luc and others in some of the acquisitions? Just listening to him, he seems to still enjoy hockey. He was complimentary towards Byfield, Laf and Turcotte. All guys with motors so to speak. The PLD acquisition just doesn't seem to fit. His previous acquisitions in Danault, Arvidsson, Jeannot and even Edmundson are all guys with motors, specialized skills or toughness. PLD just doesn't fit any of that.

He also put the Byfield BS to bed.

He is a lame duck GM. He could have went for broke but didn't. The best thing for this team was to hang onto our young players and high picks.

I am hoping that Robitaille is the first one removed and his buddy Marc goes with him.

Today was a good day.

Sounds like toxic positivity.

EDIT: beaten to the punch yet again

Yea it was one of his better interviews.

I think this deal was the best outcome for the team (other than selling guys) than any rumors that were on the table. Blake didn't sell off any prospects, picks, or young guns on the team so that's a win.

It sounds like Blake knows the team is a bubble team and his goal this year is to make the playoffs and win a round. He doesn't seem very confident in how the team is playing. He sounded like he'll be more active in the offseason if he is still around.

If you're Colorado, doesn't this whole Rantanen situation work out fairly poorly?

You trade him away, and he ends up right back your division. Now you have to play against a Stars team that's even stronger.

And Necas, who you got in return, is a UFA after one more season. He's going to end up costing you just as much as Rantanen would have because of the cap going up.

The alternative was to hold onto him and risk letting him walk if you can't trade him to a team before July 1.

Re: deals and deadline day....crazy sellers market. A lot given up for Coyle and Laughton.....no wonder the Kings settled on Kuzmenko. Would be interesting to see how close they were in on some of the better players.

You know they research and also get Yannetti's opinion of draft slots and project who may be available 17-22 2025...but not know where they will end up slotting in 2026, 2027, but it's said 26 and 27 are looking better than this year. So, if they are talking about dealing #1 2025, they have an idea of what prospects they would be missing out on. I think there's some decent talent at 17-22. Several of: Aitchseon, Ryabkin, Reschny, Hensler, Schmidt, Nesbitt, Kindel land in that range. If Yannetti is on top of things, maybe gets a prospect nearly as good or as good as Greentree. Glad they didn't give up any of the prospects or Spence, Turcotte, Clarke. I'm hopeful Clarke gets more TOI and performs where they'll never take him out again.

Other positives: with a +1 net add forward...hopefully Lewis is out. Criminal if it's Turcotte.
And: the 2025 #7 is interesting. Maybe Yannetti asked to get a 6 or 7 back...he finds a few in round 7.
Maybe they use that high 7, packaged with another pick to trade up and 8 years from now, the best part of this trade? Is Yannetti took that 7th Phi pick, moved up and got XXXXX.

And...he's playing for a contract. No way, they qualify the 5.5. Unless he scores 15 reg season and 5+ in playoffs...then, maybe? Maybe doesn't get qualified and signs for less, if he proves to work out.

sick skills, deception in moves, shots and passes. Maybe the 30th BEST PP in the NHL moves up to #25?
That alone could be the difference in making the playoffs...and an extra win in round 1? And not get swept. I have a feeling he's going to slot in with QB and Fiala...or QB and Foegele? Bumper pos PP1.
Pettersson scored his 102 pts, with Kuzmenko's 74 pt year. See highlights VAN and CAL..lots of shootout goals. There's that....get that extra point is big at this time of year...put him out for OT. With Fiala, Clarke.
3 wizards....but also high risk defensively. Maybe Kempe, Kuz, Gav.

Game day at 1:30 is FANFEST. He'll probably be jazzed to be there and meet the fans. That's cool.
Then go out and snipe GWG vs the Blues. Parayko out...so go to the net!

Looks great in front of the net, so I'm fully expecting him to be playing the point on the man advantage.
