Bill “Soup” Campbell is the reliever I couldn’t think of yesterday. Zim used him up so early in the season that he was totally useless when we needed him most. Not that anyone cares.I remember one year (77?) when the Sox had a home run spree for the entire month of June. They were a powerhouse offensively. They needed more pitching than Tiant and Bill Lee. I thought they had the answer when they got Mike Torres, but he was a flop. I remember a screwball throwing closer (I can’t think of his name) that Don Zimmer used up by the all-star break. Yeah, they should have won one or two between 75 and 80.
Phenomenal
Oh for Christ sakes!Remember when we were all mad at the Sox for not extending Bogaerts?
They picked Campbell with the comp pick they got for letting him walk. Chaim you filthy animal you!!!!!
Oh for Christ sakes!
A few games and the kid is better than Bogaerts now

No need to apologize. Opinions are like aholes, everybody has one.Dumb
Just my opinion. Sorry,
This guy pitches an 87 mph knuckleball
He will be around playing for years is a good bet when Zander is retiredOh for Christ sakes!

Yeah this is just a novelty. A knuckler doesn't get the side to side movement going that fast. Plus half the effectiveness of the knuckler is in it throwing off the hitter's timing, at 87 MPH you're basically just throwing a tumbling flat changeup with a little break. At 65-70 MPH it catches way more drag and breaks sharply, and preys upon the impatience of a hitter who is used to facing 92-95 on a regular basis.I don't know, but it seemed anytime he threw it that hard, it lost its movement...
Come on! No one knows that.He will be around playing for years is a good bet when Zander is retired![]()
My ass hurts from reading this fence sittingIn a vacuum, they definitely made the right choice with Xander. Right choice with wrong motive and bad effects though.
Campbell will be challenging for MVPs at $7.5 million while a 41 year old Xander Bogaerts is being paid $25 million to post a 75 OPS+
