I would be more excited about our pen if they didn't sign that POS.

What a joke that signing was.

I hate him too…..but the older I get, the more I realize and just accept that every team, school, office, hospital and other work environment you can name, at some point had lowlifes working there.

How many times were we unaware during their playing days that someone we rooted for or respected was a monster in real life….Walter Payton and Kirby Puckett, examples 1 and 1a.

Yes, there is a line, and TBH, Chapman is about as close to it as it gets for me.

But life is far too complicated and short, for me to use an athlete who I’ll never interact with as the reason I stop enjoying a sport or rooting for a team.

Chances are there were worse people than him on every championship team we’ve rooted for, but we just didn’t know about it.

Great pic.
I remember watching Evans in fielding practise in Toronto against the Jays, when they played at Exhibition Stadium.
I was standing behind home plate and watched him throw darts from different distances on fly balls and balls hit on the ground to RF.
What a strong and accurate arm he had.
One of my all time favorites. I thought he should have made the Hall. Really good offensive numbers, and arguably one of the best defensive outfielders of his generation.

You also think Chapman is a major signing, though.
The word was actually “significant” and I don’t really see it as debatable- he’s going to be the primary left handed setup man pitching in the 7th or 8th inning (and that’s if he’s not closing, which might also happen though I think Slaten or Hendriks has a better chance at that).

He’s a bad guy and I don’t like it, but he’s going to have a pretty sizable role in the bullpen whether you like it or not.

Boo hoo I guess… they got better this offseason and are poised to finally be a playoff team again :( :( :( (If the baseball gods don’t spite them for signing Chapman)

Slightly above average the last two seasons and clearly declining. Sorry, not significant. He's just a decent arm at best at this point.

But boo hoo or whatever.

I think they win the AL East tbh, imo they don’t really have a glaring weak spot
I'm not quite there yet, but I'm really excited about this team. They got the guy with ace potential they needed, they got the righty bat that also improves the infield defense, they got the pitching depth they needed, and they kept the big 3 prospects. Really hard to find anything to be mad about for me right now, this was a great offseason from Breslow.

Once had dinner with Eckersley.*

*We were on opposite sides of the room at the Legal in Framingham.
I once ran into Mike milbury at a wine shop in Stamford CT near the studio he was we doing hockey games at.

Said ok to do a quick picture?. He said sure. Went to do it, but I hit video, then hit panarama, and his face looked displeased. I said ya know what?, I’m a clown, f*** it, and put the phone away and said it was just nice to meet you.

First and last time I ever do the “pic with celeb thing.”
He should have beat me with his shoe.

I haven't followed the Sox closely in many years, and am not much of a baseball fan.

What is your overall assessment of Chaim Bloom's tenure?

Curious.

It seems he has built one of the better farm systems in MLB, but was canned before it came to fruition.

The one thing they still have to do is have Cora sit down with Devers and have an honest conversation with him to let him know that he's gonna be their 1B/DH this year... Devers probably won't like it at first, but if he's a pro (and I think he is..) and they're up front with him about it, he'll understand that its for the betterment of the team.

They should have that same conversation with Casas as well.

I think Devers is the DH by the end of the year. I don't see much reason to believe he'd adjust to 1B well, and Bregman really has never had much success as a middle infielder so not having him at 3B when he's an elite glove there is just very self defeating IMO.

Also not for nothing, Bregman had reverse splits last year so if Campbell really just is that dude and looks like he's ready in Spring training they absolutely should not block him cause having another impact righty bat could be important

If I'm Boston, I'm giving Campbell every opportunity to win the starting 2B job this spring. Ideally this is your starting infield on Opening Day....and its a pretty darn good one.

3B: Bregman
SS: Story (Until Mayer is ready)
2B: Campbell
1B: Casas/Devers with the other DHing

Admit you made a $90mil mistake with Yoshida and move on....

I grew up near Springfield MA and we were having easter brunch at the Sheraton downtown and sitting by himself was Marty McSourley, coach of the the Springfield Falcons. We invited him over and he sat with us, nice guy.

I also hope Grissom has a good spring training. He could be a decent trade chip

So are they better this season or without ?
They're better this season with Bregman.

How much better and whether his $30+ million could have been used more efficiently is up for debate, IMO.
This ownership group milked the Red Sox World Series tit for all it was worth and now that’s been accomplished they are a strictly money making business. This isn’t about winning or even fielding a competitive team anymore. everyone needs to lower their expectations to pre 2003 , that way no one will be disappointed with this shitbag ownership group. Looking forward to John Henry and Robert Kraft picking out urns .
What a weird rant to post the day after they signed one of the premier free agents on the market and went over the CBT threshold.

yup

Watching MLB Network and they have Yankees SP

Gerrit Cole R
Max Fried L
Carlos Rodon L
Luis Gil R
Clarke Schmidt R
Marcus Stroman R
Carlos Carrasco R

Yowza - top 5 looks ass-kicking if healthy

Stroman wants out - says he’s not going to pen

Sarge,

Generally respect your takes but Chapman went far beyond anything that Payton or Puckett ever did. None are/were perfect gentlemen but what Chapman has admitted to in the past is entirely disgraceful.

Oh great, we are close to being back to the front office can't do anything wrong and we are all stupid for questioning them days. The confirmation will be a "trust the process" post.

Isn't this magical....
