Ya I imagine we add a 2nd via Vatrano or fowler move.

Think we should extend dumo
What year and AAV would you be okay signing Vats to an extension? Solid middle 6 player in my opinion. We need to finish at .500 or better to have a chance to extend Dumo, I believe he wants to be on the east coast according to what was released when we traded him.

For me its not so much about money... its about roster space.
Id feel more comfortable signing him if we could get rid of Strome.

3 year 15 mil is prob a pretty fair # and 1 i can get behind.

The issue for me is roster space... i think without signing any UFAs.... we have 3 spots open.... im hoping personally Leason is getting 1 of those, and id prob say Guacher is going to get a shot on the 4th line.... that does leave 1 spot for vatrano... but id also prefer to go after something a bit better up front (like a brady tkachuk if he became available), that being said if mctavish was the main piece then you comfortably sign vatrano).

Sennecke will prob fight for a spot, but i think he should be in the AHL next year.

Vatrano has turned up the physicality. Even even he's not scoring, he's making an impact. And he seems to be a streaky scorer... he started cold but maybe he's heating up now.

Ya i dont mind keeping vatrano as a bottom 6 that can fill in up top the line up....

The issue is roster spots.... and i think id still want to go after a bigger name than vatrano.... not opposed to keeping vatrano and getting a bigger name.... but wed need to rid ourselves of killorn or strome(which id imagine strome is the more doable option)

What’s up with vatrano he used to be super pesty past couple years now it feels like he’s just going with the motion

IMO, I think last season was his peak and it probably added stress to repeat his success. From all accounts, he seems motivated and works hard. He's always been hot and cold. I think he's just fighting it like a lot of players.

Personally, I'm okay with trading him or re-signing to a short term, reasonable contract. There's value both ways depending on other moves.

This draft seems a lot like ‘23. Where there’s a clear top 4, maybe 4.5 if you want to say McQueen = Will Smith tier and then a clear drop off. Compared to last year, where you like 2-12 basically in the same tier.

The OHL is having a top prospects game to showcase draft eligibles. The selection process seems quite odd though. They opened it to any draft eligible prospects, meaning not just those in their first year of eligibility. I don't mind letting in a few (deserving) older prospects who are showing late breakouts etc, but they strangely chose some overages and 19 year olds who seemingly lack pro upside. There are some first year draft eligibles with a real shot of being drafted, who were left out in favor of guys who have been passed over twice and will be again.

Top 5 is taking shape and looks solid.

LD Schaefer looks a safe pick.

C Misa is really pushing his case for being a top pick. Feels like he is more liked by keyboard scouts than pro scouts. Will be interesting to see where he is on Bob's next list.

RW Martone is my #1 I just love what he offers as a package. Even with Sennecke going nuts having a 1-2 punch with him on the wing would be amazing.

C Hagens has been playing with Leonard and Perreault so I feel like he has an easier ride than he should. Would still be happy with him but feel like he wouldnt be doing as well with other wings.

C Frondell has been decent since coming back from injury but I was wanting more from him. Hopefully he starts to heat up more and can get some games in the SHL.

Beyond these guys there is a clear drop off in talent at this stage.

Unfortunately C McQueen has got himself on my DND list. He has been side-lined with a bulging disc and seems to be this years Cayden Lindstrom. I'm not interested in dealing with a permanent potentially career threatening injury.

Yeah, it's a very unexciting draft after the first 5-6 picks.

Just looking at the Ducks yearly injury thread is enough to not consider McQueen unless he somehow dropped to late 1st round. Then seeing what happened with Lindstrom post draft, yeah gotta steer clear.
