Such a Canadiens thing to have the best prospect not in the NHL and he can't play in the WJC because of Putin's senseless murdering of Ukrainians.. and he doesn't get to play the ice time and opportunites he should in the KHL because Putin's little butt buddy is gifted the team to coach as a pet project to keep him busy.
Thank God Demidov is that good he will be a superstar regardless of the BS he has to put up with this year

At least we know how good Demidov is and we'll get him over next year. Just imagine if we had Cayden Lindstrom instead. The three top picks of the rebuild would be Slaf struggling in the NHL and Reinbacher and Lindstrom injured all year. This board would be in complete shambles.

Taking Lindstrom over Demidov would have been the last straw if both were available.

Its been reported that SKA intend to be assholes and if they are eliminated before the Habs are done playing, they won't relinquish his contract before the end date of it in May.

As is only good and proper! The NHL rapscallions think they can continue to rob the KHL blind, they have another thing coming! We were fooled!

No, his contract would say otherwise
If their season is over, what contract?

They let Michkov go, stop falling for propaganda. Until it happens or doesn’t happen there’s no point getting riled up.
Exactly and I still feel there was something fishy about that whole situation. They’re screwing Demidov over yet they let him out of a 3 year contract? There’s something that we don’t know for sure.

If Michkov is actually as good as so many are saying, and there's no attitude issues, why did SKA not keep him around? Why did they ship him off to Sochi? Why did they let him out of his contract an entire two years early? Nothing makes sense except for the "bad attitude" theory. No team, even Rotenberg's SKA, lets a guy touted this highly to walk away from that many years of team control. Their handling of Demidov makes it clear how they treat players they value, so they clearly didn't value Michkov.

Because they knew his intentions were to play in NA, thus SKASP got trade value at the time. Besides HCS is not good and Mitchkoff wanted more time on ice. Hope this helps.

It's not a mystery, just look at his stats, he's a sniper.

Well, there is an alternate theory and the one that I'm inclined to believe, and that is that there was an informal, money-assisted agreement to end the contract early. That was my initial feeling, and seeing Michkov pretty much dominate as a 19-year old shows that either SKA is a really poor evaluator of talent, or that other factors were in play in the decision-making.

It's also not hard to imagine that they made this exception once (for Michkov), but not twice, in order to kill any notion for other upstart talents that it would be easy to get out of a contract. I think this is a message-sending action, rather than reflecting a different evaluation of player talent.

"Something is fishy, if Demidov is as good as we think and has no attitude problems, why is he getting benched ? He's way better than many players in the roster. It's suspicious, SKA must have a reason. They would rather lose games, than play one of their best players, it makes no sense ?"
