Guys they aren’t trading up. Look at the teams above them in the draft. They all want high impact forwards too.

Definitely fair, and there will likely be at least a handful of players who are drafted after the first round this year who will go on to have good NHL careers. There might even be an all star who emerges.
(discounting goalies who seem almost unscoutable, and could come from anywhere)

In terms of deep drafts or shallow there are just years for whatever reasons like 2003, and 2015, where there are people with first round grades through the 40th or 50th pick, and then years where there aren't more than 15-20 players who have first round grades.

And this happens in all sports. Like why is it there are a handful of top 5 caliber WR in one NFL draft, and then the next year it is a bit of a wasteland, and you see 3rd round type talents in past years being talked about in the first round the next. Same things happen in all sports.

Yup true ,but the Bruins are picking high enough they should hit on their top pick. Definitely can't afford another miss this time that is for sure .Winning the lottery would take care of things .They could trade back a couple spots if they wanted and still hit a homerun.

Pasta - 28 years old
McAvoy - 27 years old
Swayman - 26 years old

The Bruins need this pick to be a player sooner rather than later for their core's 'window.' Trading up gets you an elite player to grow with these guys. It's atleast a non-zero chance to happen and fun to talk about when there's not much going on with this team at the moment.

Great, but it means you have to have things to give away. Personally I think the team would be a bit crazy right now to trade a 26 #1.

Look if you tell me you can swap #9 , Lysell, the 2 #2s and get into the top 3, then yeah I make that trade. I'd give anyone on the Providence roster today instead of Lysell. But if I am running a team with a top 3 pick, I fire my GM if he makes that deal. I guess maybe you could use the future Toronto or Florida pick (depending), but again, I don't think that gets you into the top 3 from 9

GM's for the most part are risk averse. No one wants to be the GM who trades away the next 12 time all star.

Look at the standings they are sitting at # 9 with 2 teams about to jump them.That pick is going to get better yet with this roster.
