2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Just for entertainment purposes only! Don't lose your s**t! GM calls and says I will trade my first round pick for Dalibor Dvorsky with their turn to draft. Which guy or guys still need to be available for you to make that trade?
The top 4-5 wouldn’t trade the pick straight up for DD in my opinion. So, it would have to be Desnoyers or MAYBE Jackson for me.

Question for you. If at the draft and the Isles called and asked if you would trade Snuggs AND our 1st rounder, along with a player like Pekarcic for an extended Noah Dobson? Would ya? Fills a bigger need IMHO. And like you said, for entertainment purposes.

I'll say this: I sure would like to get Dobson on this team without giving up Snuggy or Dvorsky.

I think both of those guys are currently untouchable. I don't think they will be forever, but we are just about to find out what value they actually have. I know that's a little "it could even be a boat!" of an attitude. You'll have to get a little uncomfortable with acquiring a 25YO RHD with 70-point upside.

But at the same time... this season, Dobson would be tied with Broberg for 3rd on our team in 5v5 pts/60 among dmen. Both Parayko and Fowler have had more productive even-strength seasons. Fowler is having an even better season 5v5 this year than Dobson did last year in his 70-point season (1.55 p/60 vs. 1.43 for Dobson). Obviously Dobson has the advantage of relative youth, but we do already kind of "have Dobson at home" with Broberg. Broberg gets sheltered a lot less than Dobson, too. Given the choice between giving Broberg the max extension or acquiring Dobson with a max extension, I'll stick with Broberg. We need good PKers more than we need good PP guys.

So I would give up a good amount for Dobson, including this year's first, but I don't know that I love the idea of trading Dvorsky, Snuggerud, or Bolduc as part of that deal.

Schaefer, Misa, Frondell, Desnoyers and Hagens. Maybe O’Brien too. Would think about Martone and McQueen but would need to get more comfortable with McQueen’s back injury.

I can't say he is a player that I'm that interested in. I think he is prone to coughing up the puck and giveaways maybe more so this year. Just not a fan. Your value probably isn't off. I would rather spend the assets on a #2 center. I see that as a bigger organizational need.

I disagree, Parayko is our only long term RHD in the system, Faulk only has 2 years after this one, Kessel has been passed on the depth chart, and Jiricek is so far away I don't expect him in the NHL for at least 3 years. I don't want anything to do with Dobson, but I think RHD is a much bigger hole than Center.

I think both rhd and c are organizational weaknesses, depth wise. Why I come down in prioritizing center is that lhd can more effectively play rd than wingers can play center. Leddy and Tucker are doing fine on their offside, while Buchy was a mess at center. Across the league heiskanen and dahlin amd theodore, for example, all play primarily on off side, either by need or preference. I believe lindstein and burns and Fischer all have some experience on off side. I’d love to find another good young rhd, but I’m not ready to go crazy for one.

this. Burns will set up on the side of his match up. Many guys can effectively play both sides. Actually puts you in a better spot for a one timer. You forgot about McIsaac and Hunter Skinner (I think he will get an opportunity in the NHL as a bottom 6. Good player and getting better.) I don't think I would sell the farm for Noah Dobson.
