2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

+/- is not a great metric to begin with, much less trying to draw a conclusion from it comparing to EDM when they were often in opposite places at the same time in the Rockford/Chicago shuffle. Korchinski has played well in the AHL earning an All Star berth and doing well there. I think it is more than reasonable to project Korchinski will put on some signiciant man muscle over the next couple of seasons (most 20 year olds do, even if they are not getting professional sports level training and nutrition guidance) and some of his "softness" will diminish as he can actually compete physically with older/stronger grown men.
+/- in isolation doesnt tell you much, but +9 vs -17 on the same team while EDM gets all the hardest matchups. thats significant

Korchinski is the same age as Rinzel and older than Levshunov and they are light years ahead defensively already. Some players suck defensively just like how some are naturally gifted. People here said similar things about Nick Leddy when he was here as he's been a black hole his entire career.

Nhl Central Scouting released its final rankings this morning..

Of note...Jake O'Brien rose to #4N.A. skater after Scaefer Misa and Hagens....Desnoyers was #7..

Milton Gastrin is the #3 euroskat behind Frondell and Eklund...but tgey said it was close between the latter 2 for #1 euroskaywr and that Fribdell and what he does at the u18s could keep him#1euro for many teams or drop him below Eklund if he shows just ok insteadvof great there.

I woukd have put Hastrin as a target for our late first Leafs slot pick but now I think his strong fnish and high NHL Central Scouting ranking means Hawksvget no chance at Gastrin unless they package picks to move up.

Interesting that NHL Central Scouting listed Mason West of Ediba H.S Minnesota as a late first rounder in the N.A. skaters list ..maybe Hawks would have gambled on hom due to his size at 6'5.5 ..but the kid dies ina car crash in March..so wonder why they published their Final Rankingscoday with West still listed?
Wrre they unaware he had died?

It boggles the mind they coukd be so stupid.

He didn’t earn an a place in the all star game. He played in it because Nazar got called up.

And I agree that +- is a bad stat to look out but it’s interesting when two of the top defenders numbers differ so severely.

Could London Knights C Noah Read be a sleeper pick?
Only 6'0 170 but pkays a high pace full of energy style .in recebtvokay in the pkayoffs had a Hamrick.. startibgvti produce more.. Mark Hunter says the Jidgenenent is skilled too. But London so deep and talented that rge kid limited to lower linevrokes this season.. probably explodes next season with higher role opportunity as older guys vacate forvthe pro game.

Central zdclutingvranks him only I thec4th round ...but this kid is a good skater...positional sound ...hogh energy and co Pete.. a lot to like and of course it is the London Knights so you know they develop their guys well..

I heard 1 you tube where the scout reporti gbon this calked Read a sleeper puck...said he xoukd becanotger Luchanko.

MAYBE Hawks shoukd gamble on hom much higher than hos Central Scouting ranking?

With how Korchinski (Davidson pick) is progressing vs how Nazar and Rinzel (Doneghey picks) are progressing, you have to imaging Kyle will concede and let Doneghey take full control of the draft going forward
Levshunov over Demidov feels like it was a trust the scouts pick

Also wasn't it Doneghey who said "if you can't skate you can't be a Blackhawk"?

I'm wondering how many picks will be traded to move up 1/2 a slot.

I'm also guessing that a center who can win a dang faceoff is going to be the pick (outside of getting #1 overall).

keep seeing NFL mocks with AI so did same with NHL and it had Chicago taking Misa at 2 and Ryabkin with the Toronto pick...realistic possibility? the second pick in particular

I highly doubt the Hawks take Ryabkin and I wouldn't be surprised if they had him on their DND list. Character/attitude seems to be a pretty big thing for them and there's just too much smoke around Ryabkin and being a problem with coaches/teammates.

feel like Colin Fraser kind've hinted in the postgame that Schaefer is the number one player on their board and would be their pick at one...He more or less said "whether we pick 1 or 4 we'll get a really good hockey player and whether its a defenseman or a forward is to be determined as the lottery comes"
