2025 NHL DRAFT Thread

Is Bear dropping? I"ve seen him around #10 but recently at the end of the first round.....
Bear is a top 10 talent but had a pretty significant injury (lacerated achilles) which could impact his development

Why is Korchinski being mentioned so much as a trade option? Is it just because he’s perceived to hold the most value and my be expendable, or are you guys actually down on his development and potential?

imo he might still hold decent value but his range of outcomes feels very Reichel esque where it could be very low by the time we're sitting here next year...so if you have any doubts about it then you need to move him now if the return is there, if not then just ride out his development because either he pops and he's what you hoped he would be or he's worth more to us than anyone else given the draft capital invested in him to just keep going with it for another year or two and hope he figures it out

A bit of both. He’s so rough defensively, there’s only so much you can do for a guy, he may just always struggle in that regard.

But yes he likely holds the most value as a former high pick. This team is loaded with defensive options and short on quality forwards. So it would make sense to use a surplus to fill a deficit.

And if they do keep him, what if he can’t crack the team next year? Then what do you do with him? I’d take the chance and trade him now because his value might drop hard next year.

I'd definitely be feeling better if Kyle didn't rush him to the NHL.

Overall his development is going fine for what he is. A 15th-20th overall guy that got picked 7th.

As a 7 he's underwhelming, but if you look at what he actually is his trajectory is fine.

Hawks are looking like they have a big 3 with Vlasic, Rinzel, and Lev on the back end. EDM, Kaiser, Crevier all look like NHLers, and ones that are more role specific.

Korch's skill set is more suited to be a breakout pass, PPQQB... but Rinzel and Lev are better at that so Korch will never fulfill that role on this roster.

He's just starting to feel a little like the odd man out. If the Hawks were to luck into Scahefer, then long term Korch is really outside.

We all know Hawks need some more high end forwards. You gotta give to get. Korch could be what we give.

For me, Korchinski only becomes a trade chip if we land #1OA and Schaefer. Korchinski was rushed to the NHL (based on the CHL/AHL rules) and has had a really good D+2 year in the AHL and an NHL callup. We are still a couple years away from the age 22/23 point where most D break into the NHL full time and despite being tossed into the deepend of the NHL as a 19 year old and the struggles of that season, nothing in this past season indicates he won;t end up a good NHL D.

Who is everyone's "guy" in this draft?

(Scheafer doesn't count because he's everyone guy)

Eklund.

I'm also starting to live Brady Martin a lot and crossing my fingers we can pick him with the TOR pick.

What about you? I feel like we don't see the crazy amount of hyping for 1 or 2 guys that you do usually each year.

lack of rapid development and impatience of fan base really. Also the Blackhawks have depth at Defense with Vlassic, Rinzel, Kaiser, Levshunov, EDM, N.Allen, Crevier in system

See, this is more what I was thinking. Isn’t it still pretty early to be giving young guys away? Until the young players actually start breaking out and establishing themselves as long term stars, there’s really no reason to move clear a perceived surplus.

Right, they have depth and promise. Korchinski is part of that. None of these guys have really broken out yet, they’re all still young, promising, and developing. I guess Vlasic is the one exception, but even his exact role is an unknown.

Also the idea that if the hawks see his stock falling that they should move him now seems odd. If a bunch of posters on a hockey forum see him potentially losing value, professional front offices won’t see that and Davidson will be able to apparently fleece them?

The thing is Denoyers is not only a safe pick because he is the oist conplete 2 way player.of any forward I the top 10....the best defensive forward probably of anyone in the draft......good in comete....very good on draws (though not as many draws as some so you wonder if they only used him for his strong side draw situations.. but has a higher % of draw wins than Misa ,Hagens or Obrien....he is great in the liitle details of the gane..knows how to anticipate and close on the angles to cut off rushers in the neutral zone or even before they exit their own zone ..Yes you do want more mass and strength on his frame and legs ...6'2 but 20-25 more lbs of strength and power as he fills out would make him even better and help his skatuing speed with more burst and explosion if he worked on adding strength in his legs..but he makes up for lack of elite straight kibe speed by using deception and he has a unique swooping ability to go around checkers whike keeping puck protection to continue possession
In short he does a lot of things well both ways suxh that you can project an effective 2 way competitive Cente rfor all situations and a knack for scoring important goals...led the Q in GWGs...
Si you get a very projectable useful cebter ..but ceiling is likely only 2C not a 1C line driver ...Heis probably wither a 1C "b" level or a 2C "a" level= 30 goal 40-45 amazing pro celing but you also get a relatively high + due to 2way pkay at Evens...a Toews....not the highest offensive talent just good...the important goals..winner...

If the Hawks take Misa...higher offebsive celing ..eklte speed.. also sulpord yo be good 2 ways .but revebt poor plus/minus over last 16 HO including pkayoffs causes sone doubt a out how scouts reported he was good effective and co petition 2 was.. O think you observe Desnoyers and you know how reliable he is checking down the opps..Misa also had a hogh positive I us monus for the regular season..but sobething went off the ribs and turned negative not just in disappointing playoff series loss but starting even before the playoffs..
Someone done doubt has crept in about Misa and certainty he can duplicate Jr successto the pros?

Misa has the talent to super-star but the Misa over his last 16GP including playoffs makes one wonder ifmore warts will show up?

So tried the 9th attempt ...the penultimate Tankathon Sim spin corespondong to the 9th game tonoght of the Final Ten Coubtdown where I made 1 try before each of these games...

The prior 8 results showed Hawks got #1,once
#2 once #3 4 times and #4 twice...

Now the 9th attempt added to the 4th place pile..
So thru 9 shots at it, Hawks so far only have gotten top pick 1 time ..#2 also only 1 time...#3 4times...#4 3 times..

I feel pretty in tune with how the market of scouts has perceived the players this season because of how closely I have been listening to the Mckeggs, Pronmans, and Mckenzies. That is both how they see the players themselves, but mostly what they have said about other scouts opinions. A rough 20 team mock draft I feel would go something like this;

1. Schaefer - SJ
2. Misa - CHI
3. Hagens - NSH
4. Frondell - BOS
5. Desnoyers - PHI
6. Martone - BUF
7. Mrtka - SEA
8. O'Brien - PITT
9. Smith - ANA
10. Mcqueen - NYR
11. Eklund - DET
12. Martin
13. Carbonneau
14. Potter
15. Hensler
16. Lakovic
17. Aitcheson
18. Fiddler
19. Spence
20. Bear
