I don't know where the Blackhawks will be drafting and I know very little about the kids coming out this year. But I think this will be the highest they will be drafting for years and I would really like for them to get a big, talented center that slots behind Bedard for the next decade.

Call me crazy but if it's between a kid who profiles with Toews' game against a kid who profiles as Kane's, I'm taking the center.

Roger Mcqueen injured for a few months. Might help him drop to us in the 5-10 range if we end up there.

With the first rounders this year go BPA even if they are defender

It's never bad thing to keep accumulating talent in pipeline especially in area of strength to give you some trade chips down line

It's a forward-heavy draft, from what I've seen. BPA is likely a forward, not a D.
At this stage BPA is almost guaranteed to be a forward unless you’re sitting at 6 and Matt Schaefer is still on the board with all of Hagens, Martone, Misa, Frondell, and McQueen gone

I don't McQueen is a KD type guy though no? His skating isn't a plus.

With Martone, Misa, Carbonneau, Frondell, Spence, Desnoyers, Lakovic also all there I have a hard time seeing how they would choose him.

Carbonneau, Lakovic, Desnoyers, Spence we may be able to grab with Toronto pick or Toronto pick +.

1.Hagens
2. Martone
3.Frondell
4.Misa
5.Ryabkin
6.Mcqueen
7.Schaefer
8.Hensler

We would be in pretty good shape with a top 8 pick someone will take those 2 defenseman earlier than we would.

Obviously Hawks would want Martone ,Misa or Frondell...if they pick top 3...I cannot see Hagens....goidvpjayer butvanotgerxsmalkish center when we have Bedard and Nazar..its a no go for the Hawjscon Hagens.

They either go Power Scoring winger (Martone) or the 2 Centers with more size than Hagens (Misa or Frondel)..If theyc raft 4th and if alk 3 of the forwards listed above are gone,I think they woukd then take Mathew Schaefer the best dman in the draft with no other dman even being close to him for star impact.

But the greatest need is for star oitential forwards with some size and scoribg talent.

I f they draft 5th and all 4 above are off the board maybe they draft Ryabkin orctrade the pick to put a package together for a legit nhl 2nd line C that does nit fit sobe othercteam's cap crunch

I enjoy reading some posters thoughts on future draft picks. I watch some minor/college hockey but not a ton.

What grinds my gears id that a couple act like they can watch every prospect, at least half their games, in different continents as well. Teams have several scouts per area doing that so I trust that more than some random on HF who fancies themselves as a draft savant.

We are a long ways from worrying about drafting based on position needs or body types...we need high impact star players of which we have exactly ONE in Bedard and even he has some questions about if he is a winger or C long term. The current season could reshuffle the top of the draft board based on performance of the top guys, but as currently constructed the Hawks would not be passing on Hagens as there is a gap between him and the rest of the field. My hope is Vlasic can avoid a sophmore slump and we are all confident he is a topish of the lineup player long term and that a couple of Levshunov, Korchinski, or Nazar blossom into something resembling what the Hawks feel is their ceiling.
