Leafs first + 2026 first + one of our good prospects I’m thinking, if that were the route he were to take.

Was just about to reply back with the same idea. I'm not an expert on this draft class, but it looks like there might be a drop off in talent when you get to pick number 8.

I think right now it's only a given that the Sharks are worse than us. Who knows what happens there between Chicago, Columbus, Anaheim, Montreal, and Calgary.

If we get a top 3 pick of our own, I think this would be the year to pull the trigger on trying to get back into the top 10 with our 2026 pick and the pick from Toronto.

Unpopular opinion but do that and go sign Marner if he hits the market. Rantanen would be even better, but I don't think Colorado lets him walk but I think there is a decent chance Marner does walk if Toronto has another typical playoff run.

I can easily see us getting 75 points or so (If most things go as planned) Just not sure how many Teams will be under that . We dont wanna draft past 8 , seems like a drop off . We should be picking somewhere between 5th to 10th overall .

If you combined the 2023-2025 drafts in the mythical scenario that all of these guys were coming out at the same time, how do goes like Hagens and Martone rank amongst....

Bedard
Carlsson
Fantilli
Celebrini
Hagens
Martone

Trying to get a gauge on the level of prospects that Hagens and Martone are.

Martone or Mcqueen would be awesome.

By the way, you can already pencil in Lynden Lakovic as the Toronto 1st round pick. He's the exact type of player that isn't good enough to be a blue chip prospect, but good enough to give fans small hope just like Nazar, Moore, Rinzel, Korchinski, and Boisvert. He also fits the KD style of play

Without bad lottery luck - what 5 teams (or as many as 10) do you think are worse than the Hawks? I would include SJ/CLM, and you can probably make an argument for ANA/CAL, but struggle to think of anyone beyond that.

Montreal , Blues , Pen's , Caps , Ottawa , Sabres ,Philly all are kinda unpredictable . I feel like 6th might be where we pick ?

There's less separation this year between the worst teams. I don't think even the Sharks are going to be dumpster fire bad like they and we were last season. Calgary is also going to try and dump their roster players and tank again so they'll probably plummet in the last 20 games of the year whereas the Sharks and Hawks don't have many vets they'd realistically trade

Flames, Sharks, Ducks, Hawks, and Jackets are in a group of their own. Any version of the standings involving these five teams are on the table IMO.

The Hawks do have 6 pending UFAs and I wouldn't be surprised to see most of them dealt at the deadline -- assuming their are suitors. A guy like Murphy could be dealt too if he stays healthy and another team likes the idea of getting two playoff runs out of him.

Early 2025 wishlist;

1. Martone
2. Hagens
3. Mcqueen
4. Misa
5. Schaefer
6. Frondell
7. Ryabkin
8. Spence
9. Desnoyer

We should be able to get atleast 1 of these guys. I want Davidson to put his neck on the line and try to get 2 of them like he tried with Demidov by trading a 2025 unprotected 1st. Davidson hasn't made a big signing or trade. He needs to do something big or step aside for another GM to do something significant

I'm not so sure I am moving unprotected '26 first if that is what you are advocating. If someone will bite on the Toronto first, a redundant (non top 7-8 prospect in our system), and some other lesser picks/prospects, then sure I would do a quantity package to get a 2nd top 10 pick as we need to consolidate some assets before we end up with more players/prospects than roster spots in the A and Nhl.

While I am hoping for a good development year of our prospect pool where a couple arrive contributing in Chicago during this season, a couple others look ready to make the jump next year, and we make a splash in free agency this Summer, even all that going right may only have us as a fringe playoff team next season where if we miss we give away any chance at Gavin McKenna. A rebuilding Hawks trading away a 1st that turns into McKenna in the lottery for another team would be a collosal blunder. If we win the draft lottery next draft and can not win the McKenna lottery....than I would put that pick in play for the right move.

Trading their unprotected 1st in 2025 could well turn out to be a massive mistake.

What? He traded DeBrincat, Dach, Kane and let Toews walk. He doesn't need to do anything big. He needs to operate in the best interest of the franchise. We know he aggressively pursued another top-4 pick last year. Maybe he will again this year, maybe he won't. It made sense to try and trade for Demidov last year because the thinking was that he's on par with any forward from the 2025 class after Hagens and Martone.

If he did his homework, he could've just got Artamonov. He's cooking Demidov.
