2025 NHL Draft: Lose a ton for Porter Martone

Not really sure where to talk about other teams rebuilds, but after noticing Cayden Lindstrom went under another back procedure, the CBJ rebuild really doesn't look as good as I thought it would a few years ago. Lindstrom hasn't played in forever, Jiricek can't make/isn't being played in their lineup for whatever reasons, and Kent Johnson has missed alot of time the last two seasons.

Goes to show how we need alot more development/luck than just drafting all these guys who we like at the moment.

So far, Grier has both seemingly done everything right, or right enough, and also gotten lucky, so we're on a good path. But losing Smith as a top end prospect, or not getting anything from our winger pool, or having Dick/Mukh both top out at 2nd pair, or even finishing too well and drafting 5-6 this year, will hinder our rebuild as well.

I think you hinted at it here, this rebuild is still rebuilding. It can still go sideways.

I also think we could nab a player that potentially can either be trade bait himself or make someone else tradeable to get us that top line Dman.

If he keeps rising, this is the direction I'd go. Or Mrtka or like, Limatov if they have a strong 2025.

I guess if you go for Desnoyers you're possibly drafting a solid 3C. I just don't know enough about him. I'm not sold on Frondell yet, and McQueen has Lindstrom-esque back issues.

Hasn't been very good. Looking more like a mid-late teens kind of pick.

I'm starting to worry that we're going to need to win the lottery to get Schaefer.

I think i'd look to trade that pick then for an establish player. Of course this depends on development and who is available to trade for AND if the draft pans out this way as we think, but if we have 6OA it could be valuable to a team in free fall.

I;m not suggesting the players, but a team like the Islanders might salivate at that top-10 first in return for players like Barzal or Dobson.

He made the bad decision to go to Wisconsin. Michael Farrell has a great write up on what's going on with him on the Prospects board.

We all said Wisconsin was a bad choice. He thought it would be different for him than all the others. I hope he’s enjoying his time off the ice because on the ice his draft position will likely pay for the choice he made. Seems like the type of player who will continuously fall. Maybe even out...

I suspect Nashville will be much better. I don’t think we’ll out tank Chicago.

Honestly, there are a shocking amount of bad teams and I actually think the Sharks are kinda trending toward being… not as awful as a few of them.
