2025 Musings and News: Tis the Off-season

With the trade of Ed Ingram to Houston that puts one of the final nails in the coffin of one of the worst Vikings draft classes ever. It rivals 2005.
And it all started with that atrocious trade down from 12 to 32 for not great value. Even in foresight it wasn't good. A few reaches (Ingram. Asomoah over Dean). Maybe it was just a lot of Ed Donatell's figure prints cause it was heavy on D. But the trade down was 100% on Kwesi.

1. S Lewis Cine - barely got on the field, then cut after 2 seasons. (did break leg on special teams rookie year)
2. CB Andrew Booth - barely got on the field, traded for a warm body after 2 seasons.
2. G Ed Ingram - started for 2.5 years, but was horrible and finally mercifully benched. Traded for a 6th after 3 seasons.
3. LB Brian Asomoah - Special Teamer.
4. CB Akayleb Evans - cut midway through year 3.
5. RB Ty Chandler - JAG. Might not make the team this year.
5. DE Esezi Otomewo - cut after 1 season.
6. WR Jalen Nailor - sadly might be the best player from the class with 1 decent season.
6. OT Vederian Lowe - traded for a 6th after 1 season. (Think he's been on OK for NE. Even caught a TD aha)
7. TE Nick Muse - yo-yoed between PS and 53 for for 3 years, signed with Eagles in January.

I mean 5ths/7ths are usually dart throws so finding Nailor (and Lowe) could be deemed a success. But how do you miss that badly on all 5 guys you picked in the first 4 rounds?

There's a good chance no one other than Nailor plays out their entire rookie contract. At least they got a couple picks back for Ingram and Lowe.

Players got the pay day, might as well cash in.
Beyond that, they still only really lost depth pieces. Slay and CJGJ were starters, but we’ve seen the Eagles are definitely fine in the secondary. Though they did try to sign Justin Reid.

I like this move. Mason is legit good and should be a nice 1B/2 behind Jones. They had to overuse Jones last season because they couldn't find anyone. I still hope they draft someone in the later rounds too.

it's a very deep RB class, so can get someone in rd 3 or 4. Should see a big run on RB on day 2 of the draft.

Rush is a solid backup, but not exactly a similar style to Lamar
they'll just utilize 20% of the playbook for rush and hand it off to henry the rest of the time. rush at least gives them a chance to win without lamar as opposed to trotting out guys like josh johnson, anthony brown, tyler huntley, etc

Yeah I suppose a guy who can throw it a little and can't run, is better than a guy who can run a little but can't throw, especially when you add Henry to the mix
