No, even though the market for Alonso is cool, think his power makes him worth more than Bregman. Bregman is definitely fading at the plate. Bregman at 1b, I had not even considered.........
I was figuring Arenado at first. I thought he had stated previously he would move to first if needed.

Either way it would improve the defense.

Damn that is expensive. Are they trading a SP now?
Arenado. at third and Devers at first isn't too expensive, even picking up some of Yoshida's salary. Casas and Yoshida for Arenado, Heisley and whatever decent pitcher they can get. I don't know the Cardinal's staff too well-other than Mikolas, who cratered last year.

I don't have your confidence in Devers at first, but Arenado improves any defense. Getting a closer and extending the bullpen is a plus. If Arizona wants to trade Gallen now I'm interested.

I definitely am too. I will say I think most of the proposed moves with the Cardinals are too good to be true even with Chaim's influence. Best we can hope for is Abreu plus a prospect for Arenado I think.

Yes I agree, but I guess you never know. Chaim may be in love with Abreu and certain prospects.

My prediction is Profar to play a few places but mainly second. Kim is also possible to play mainly second. Arenado would be good, and is certainly possible too. It might be Casas for him and I don't love that. We shall see what happens.

Btw, I do not mind moving Casas because he absolutely loves himself. Sometimes you have to make a personality/chemistry trade despite the player having talent. Slightly before my time, but Reggie Smith was said to be an example of this. Arguably,Nomar was too but defense and injury were also factors.
Casas loves himself so get rid of him

Reggie Smith didn’t get along with Yaz. That trade did not work out well

I do like Kim a lot but he is coming off surgery

You are probably correct. Would Alonso be less expensive than Bregman? I would say Bregman and Arenado at the corners gives you a helluva infield defense though.
I think the Mets like that as well

Nolan Arenado is going to be 34 in April

He’s close to done

What are they thinking

Casas for Arenado is 1977 Cooper for Scott all over again
I thought it was Abreu and Yoshida being discussed for Arenado and possibly Helsey. Is Casas rumored to be involved?

Oh ok

Your deal I do

I like Casas - he’s quirky but I love how he pisses people off because he likes to talk

I just like what he is capable of if he can stay healthy. Guess we will see if the Sox do anything else of note. Pretty sure they were offering Casas and Yoshida for Castillo, but for some reason Seattle said no. Pretty silly decision I think.

Would you have dealt Casas with Yoshida for Luis Castillo? Obviously it would have been to get rid of Yoshida.

I would for Nolan plus Heisley or a pitcher. However I did say I don'tlove Casas for Arenado. I still stand behind trading Casas though.
You don't trade four seasons of control of a 25-year old middle of the order 1B with a career 125 OPS+ for a 34-year old 3B in serious decline who's still owed $60+ million over the next three seasons and a relief pitcher in his free agent walk year. You're giving up way too much future value.

I thought they were discussing Abreu and Yoshida for him. Casas and Yoshida were for Castillo I thought. If that happened they would have had to sign a 1b or 3b I would guess.
The whole reason Arenado is on the market is the Cardinals want to get rid of his contract. They're not going to want Yoshida's deal in exchange. If/when he's traded, it's probably going to be for non-premium prospects.

I do think they got something going on

If it’s Abreu & Yoshida two guys Bloom acquired I do this

Devers would need to DH

Playing Arenado at 1B is ridiculous to not hurt Devers feeling

I actually like Castillo, but the thought of having to trade someone like Casas to dump another contract is ridiculous.
Castillo stats are excellent in Seattle - league average outside.

I’m good keeping Casas

And dumping a contract says you are cheap
