2025 FISU Hockey - Torino, Italy

Mike was a solid defensemen with a lot of spark.
Lot's of hair and a pretty good mouth from what I remember, especially in the old LBR against STU.

You mean that’s not what people are talking about when they discuss the possibility of him going to school next year ?!
Porter Martone has made TC and projected to play a lead role.

I was being sarcastic lol. Referencing the rumours he could play NCAA hockey next year.

I wonder if he will go to NCAA. The landscape has certainly changed in the past month.
Definitely seems more beneficial than putting up 3 points a game next year . So many dominos to fall , kinda curious if the NHL-CHL transfer agreement gets nixed at some point . Would make much or sense for these guys to play college as opposed to dominating the CHL but I really think ideally those guys should be playing in the AHL (Shane Wright never should have been made to go back to Jr, that entire agreement has always been BS in my mind).

I think that agreement will go away. As far as CHL OA guys going to NCAA, there's only been a dozen or so out of a potential 180, so that is worth watching as well.

You didn't post the score from Thursday. I did. And, you're not all annoying. :)

I hope FISU has their site up like they did in 2023. I want to watch some games again.
I hope FISU does webcasting again as well.

Having not watched the games, but just going by the stats, I think it is a good thing that USports didn't run over Team Canada prospects in Game 2 like they did last year. That was a bad sign last year, and ended up being prophetic. This year there seems to be more grit on TC, and hopefully there will be more drive to the front of the net - which they certainly lacked when it mattered last year.

We'll see in 10 days or so. If they win, great. If not, my life doesn't change a bit.

I’m not gonna lie , unless it’s best on best (Olympics , World Cup) I really don’t care who wins . World Juniors , etc i usually end up cheering for the “Cinderella” team or the worst team I could see medaling lol. I’ve spent plenty of holidays cheering for the Swiss.

That's a great approach. I watch the games for entertainment. If it's a Canada game and the TSN crew starts to annoy me with how great Canada is (playing Denmark), I turn the sound off. I get that it's their job to push TC, but I don't need it.

I also don't really care who wins. I usually don't watch the Canada vs Bad Team games, but do watch the better teams play each other.

And, thanks to 'Foyle, this thread has moved to a HC World Junior place. :)

In fairness this is pretty much the only place online I can come have an actual intelligent convo about hockey . We almost need an “OT Thread” or something .

I know the games are almost a month away, but I installed the FISU TV app on my Firestick and watched Canada-US Gold medal game.

The app should work on any Smart TV.

I don't see any hockey games scheduled on my FISU app, other than semis and Gold. I hope they show them. I enjoyed watching in 2023.

I'll have a look again Monday.

Looking at the stats on the FISU Torino page (which are not in the format we're used to ...) it looks like Sam Richard struggled in the shoot out, in the loss to Czechia.
I don't see where he "struggled". Maybe I'm looking at the wrong page, but it shows the CZE goalie with 40 saves and no GA, when it was a 1-1 game.

This is the site I found - Torino 2025 - FISU World University Games Winter

Scores so far.

CAN Women - 16-0 TPE, 14-0 GBR

CAN Men - 11-0 KOR, 1-2 CZE

Next games Wed - Women vs SVK, Men vs KAZ

SVK and CAN are 2-0. Big game for the women.
