It's good that this team will play the Juniors next week. Give the coaching staff a chance to look at line combos and give the players a chance to "bond".

U of A and Mount Royal are obviously zoned in on gaining a first round bye in the CanadaWest.
I assume that's the reason why Marple and Herbers don't wan't any of their players participating.
For UBC, it will be a challenge with a trio of top players going to Torino.
IMO, Richard is the best goaltender in the AUS, despite having possibly the best backend in the country.

It’s also hard to judge guys playing behind different teams . I talked to an ex junior goalie at pickup and he was saying it’s just as hard to get 12 shots and stay sharp as it is to face 50 shots .

FYI - The team will play TC Juniors Thurs Dec 12 at 3 ET and Fri Dec 13 at 12 ET.

iirc, I was able to watch the games on a stream somewhere.

Will this be the second tournament that Russia has been banned?
4th

Edit- oh wait you are talking about FISU , my brain went right to world juniors because of the comment above lol.

2nd FISU games without Russia , they won gold in their last appearance.

Gardiner reached out to MRU last time but they balked at the invite due to cost. Not all schools help cover their player's expenses. Coach Mac even offered to cover half of the expenses for their top two guys - no dice.

$20 a pop to watch each game this week online (World Jr). That’s absolutely insane …. $40 is $40 but on principal I really question if I’m watching these.

That is probably how I watched last year. Not sure if it was $20

Edit: I posted earlier that the games were a 3 and 12 ET, but looking at Hockey Canada Livestream it shows 4 and 1 ET. It may be delayed because of streaming.

I'll have to resolve that if I plan on watching.

It's only $35 +Fees for game tickets in Ottawa ... think I will head down and catch the Friday Noon game.

I understand turning down JUST the trip to Italy if it costs $4000 (from what I recall, that was the cost to go in previous years) and forces you to miss 3 weeks of classes and the season ... BUT ...

turning down FISU this year is also turning down the trip to Ottawa and 2 HEAVILY scouted games vs the World Juniors team. I get that money can be an issue, but it seems like too good an opportunity to pass on.

Somewhat OT

Porter Martone a potential first overall pick made Team Canada… his father Mike won a national championship with StFx.
