OT - NO POLITICS Happy New Year HFBruins!

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it.
I know many don’t care, but I’ve had a few people reach out and ask where I’ve been. Haven’t posted that much recently except for the other night.

So for those that do care, my wife and has our child on November 17th. Baby boy, a little uncle Rico. He’s healthy and massive. 10 pounds 2 ounces at birth and growing fast.

He’s going to be a big boy. I was 9 pounds and change at birth and I’m 6’2 now.

I appreciate those who reached out to ask if I’m ok. I couldn’t be better honestly except a little tired. My son woke me up I’m pushing him in his rocking chair at 2:30am and hopped on here.

So that’s the update I appreciate you all!
Congratulations!

We haven't done any questions in a while, so here are a few.

1) Did you go back to school after high school, uni, etc.... whether full time or part time? For fun, for work, for a different career?

2) What was the best part of the holidays for you?

3) If someone "gave" you a million dollars to donate - which organization(s) would you choose?

4) What is the most unusual pet you have ever had?

5) Do you have a pet peeve?

1. I dropped out of college to go to work for my father in 1982. Six years later I returned to school part time to get my associate's degree. Took me 9 freaking years but I did it, got my A.S. in Business Administration management concentration.

2. The best part of the holidays was catching up with the kids. Now that they're grown I don't see them that often.

3. I'd donate the money to local cat rescues/shelters.

4. I've never had an unusual pet.

5. People who are late & don't let you know they're going to be late. Actually it's more than pet peeve I think it is rude & disrespectful.

1. I went right out of high school but mostly to ski (Vermont)...I was 17. I started working and over the years earned a business degree. For my job I got my APICS certification (materials and planning). It was for work.

2. seeing my small family

3. Something for animals

4. A horse. Also cats and dogs.

5. many...Driving ...people texting, high beams when you shouldn't use them....tailgating.
At games...people who drink too much and act like assholes....Banging on the glass.
Drunks in general are annoying
As I get older, I get more annoyed with rude ignorant people ...and there are far too many of them. I have to bite my tongue until it bleeds to not last out and sometimes, I cannot help myself.

1. nope, graduated college and havent had a need/desire to go back.

2. giving gifts. sounds cheesy but its really enjoyable to come up with things someone will like.

3. National Park Foundation

4. Savannah cats, currently have 2. They're an F2 which means their grandparent is an African Serval and they're each ~40% wild Serval. Full grown they'll be ~2 feet long and 20-25 lbs each. They just turned 1 and already have a 7ft vertical jump.

5. inconsiderate people. whether its being late to something, leaving your cart in the middle of the aisle, not putting your cart back in the corral, walking slow in a crowd, etc.

1) I graduated undergrad in 2003 and went to grad school in 2012. Thankfully my job paid for a nice chunk of it so it helped.

2) This was our first Christmas with our daughter so we made it fun for her. It’ll be been more fun when she’s older and can really get excited for it.

3) Dana Farber - they were so good to my dad when he was sick.

4) We didn’t have many pets growing up, our house was very small. I did win a betta fish from a local pet store so I’d have to say that.

5) Hearing anyone chew - it makes me want to jump out of my skin. Double worse if I’m talking to someone on the phone and they start eating.

1) I took two grad classes at Umass Lowell but changed jobs and didnt need a masters
2) Went to Cape Cod for New Years and had fun doing a polar plunge, road race, and first night
3) GiveWell does the hard work for you, they find the charities that do the most good/$
4) I have three shetland sheep. They are like small dogs that live outside, mow the lawn, and baaaa at me to give them grain. My wife spins their wood but it is not worth the $$ though we have saved a ton by getting round bails of hay.
5) People who dont curve their hats.

1. Undergrad, then a master's program. Took a few years off, then went into a doctoral program, but ended up leaving because of the state of academia, low job prospects, and having no passion for the subject I was pushed into researching. I ended up completely changing fields and make more money now for less stress than I would have if I stayed.

2. Having time off was nice. And food, cookies everywhere. I love gluttony and pigging out every once in a while.

3. Probably mostly something with animals and the rest to Catholic Charities.

4. Chickens, they're interesting, a little kooky. I'm just waiting for them to get old enough to lay eggs.

5. Many, many things. I'm the weird type of person who doesn't get bothered by big things at all, but little things drive me crazy. A lot of it is sound, like wind chimes or whistling. Or people drumming on their desks. I want to scream shut up, but I'm too nice to be confrontational.

We haven't done any questions in a while, so here are a few....
1. Went back to school at night to get my MBA. Uncle Sam picked up half the tab....

2. Having all 3 of my kids+ fiancees home at the same time. They sure do grow up fast. People used to tell me that all the time when they were little and I didn't believe them. They were right.

3. Alzheimer's Foundation. In memory of my father.

4. Rented a house with 2 other guys in college and my roommate brought home an albino ferret. It didn't have the scent glands removed. Big mistake.

5. People who aren't aware of their surroundings and inadvertently get in the way of everyone else.

1) I took some accounting and interior decorating college courses but never found what I really wanted to do.

2) Definitely family being together, just 5 of us but it was wonderful and fun.

3) I would give some to CF, my nephew has it, and some to the food bank and animal shelter. There are so many causes though, so hard to choose.

4) We didn't really have unusual pets, lots of dogs, and some guinea pigs and bunnies.

5) I have a few but whistling drives me up the wall. Most people who do it think they are good at it and they just aren't.
