Ryabkin at 16ov is interesting as well. He dropped a bit in a few other lists. He'd be a fantastic get with the Rangers 1st.
ryabkin has way too much talent to drop too far. some team is going to take a homerun swing and pick him. I'm not sure i would have the guts to do it. but then again, we are a team that needs to be taking homerun swings.:dunno:

I don't know if Frondell over Martone happens.
I expect it to as of today.
Odd to see Desnoyers at 14ov though. I highly doubt he drops that far.
He’s not that good, is why. IMO.

we need top 4. we could drop one slot if we stink up the lotto.
I’d be happy with anyone in top 5. Think 5OA ensures you one of Misa/Hagens/Martone/Frondell. Haven’t seen a ton of anyone but kinda feel like if you can’t get Schaefer the other 4 are similar caliber.

I think I'm hoping for Martone at this point with where the Penguins 1st is likely going to land. They really seem to have the bottom falling out from them where they'll more likely be picking #4 or #5 than #8. They still desperately need centers, but Martone, McGroarty and Koivunen as your 3 best winger prospects looks really good to me and I like the mix of talents there if all 3 pan out.

At #4 yes. If Misa or Hagens are on the board, I do not believe that will be the case. Taking Martone over Misa is willful negligence. If anyone at FSG knows anything about any of them and they watch Dubas take Martone over Misa, he's fired. Course, I'm super high on Misa so I'm biased.

I don't think Ryabkin is a "homerun" swing player though. I think he's a mid-1st talent in a weak draft and likely a mid-2nd round talent in a strong draft.

It's looking more likely that the pick will fall in 2025 rather than 2026. Their 1st is currently sitting at 14th overall and it seems to be on the upward trend. The Rangers are still pretty ass but it seems like Miller is trying to drag them into the playoffs.

I'm just hoping it comes in at like #14 or #15, otherwise it slides to next year.

he's a highly skilled head case....... seems his "give a dam" is broke.

I still think they miss

That’s sucks but oh well.

Sounds like Ryabkin is falling for other reasons. Possibly weight issues and being a douchebag.

Watched a game of Cam Schmidt.. holy lord is he tiny, but fun to watch. Absolutely has the skating you need to overcome the size issue (unlike Matthew Phillips). Fast, darting, stops on a dime. Really quick hands that remind me of Sergei Samsonov but may be even smaller. His shot looks NHL caliber, right now, too. Like even #1 PP unit caliber. Just as a possible pick if we get the Rangers pick. I like the Kindels and O’Briens and Reschnys but Schmidt just.. if he can overcome his size and not get killed he’ll be elite.

If we had the chance and picked Martone over Hagens or Misa, I'd be pretty disappointed. I think Martone is a decent consolation prize outside the big three (Schaefer, Hagens and Misa) and I could see Chicago or SJ picking Martone to play with Bedard and Celebrini. But I think Schaefer, Hagens and Misa are better players that would fill a much bigger role for us.

I also think Jackson Smith is gonna go higher than #10 where he is currently ranked. I'd be really tempted to take him at 5/6 and hope someone like Frondell or McQueen falls and take one of them with the Ranger's pick.

If you have the Rangers pick this year & end up with say picks 5 and 14, walking away with Anton Frondell and then one of Jackson Smith, Logan Hensler, Jake O"Brien, Ben Kindel, or Carter Bear, that's a successful 1st round.

Brady Martin looks pretty good, and he's a Soo kid so there's a connection there. Maybe another option with the later pick.

Looks like a jack-of-all-trades player. In the 1 shift-by-shift I watched he played every single forward position, PP, PK.

I think if you go small skilled guy at that pick you gotta go Potter. I think he’s got top 10 talent with a decent floor of utility player.

I haven't taken a good look at Martin yet. But I really like Jake O'Brien for the Rangers pick if the other bigger names are gone. Good playmaker that already has 88 points this year and he turns 18 like a week before the draft. We can bring back Jake Shakes too.

If we picked like.. 9OA I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s him. Screams Wes Clark.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was available with the Rangers 1st. NHL Mock Draft has him at #14 overall right now.

My gut feeling right now is that the Penguins end up with picks #6 and #16 in the draft, so I could see Frondell and Martin with their 2 1sts this year. I'd be pretty satisfied with that.

Cullen Potter or Jack Nesbitt are both guys I would take in the 15 to 20 range. Guys with elite attributes that are boom or bust because they have questions elsewhere are way more interesting to me than some guy that projects to be a safe bet Michael Bunting type.
