Pens need the following. RW with size and skill, then another RW with size and skill. A RH center could be had as well. Depending on where they draft I like a RW or RH center with some size and upside. Please no more small LW skill guys as they seem to have more than enough to develop.
Throughout the farm, they need some RHD. Wheeling has 1 and WBS has 1.

If we’re picking Martone at 2OA because he might play with Sid, we done f***ed up.
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Martone at 2OV might be a stretch. It will mean, IMHO, that Hagens or Schaefer are available which is the more logical selection at the moment. But after that it's Martone, Misa, and McQueen. You can add Fondell in there as well. So I'm not sure what you mean that by selecting one of them it's illogical.

Not sure what this reply even means?

He's saying that you shouldn't be making a decision in this year's draft because of how it'll benefit the Crosby era.

Thank you.

I firmly agree BPA and all, but the thinking here that we should be drafting for Crosby's well-being or legacy is poison. We have only one duty with drafting from here on out and that's to build a foundation for a post-Crosby era which is really only a few seasons out.

It wouldn't matter though. Whoever they pick MIGHT be able to jump in with Sid but what difference would that make?

You take Misa because Misa is f***ing good. Again, the top 5 is relatively straightforward so to call anyone of them an illogical piece is an awkward statement, at best.

If we pick, say 3OV and Hagens and Schaefer are taken at 1 and 2, who do you select? Misa, Marton, McQueen, or Fondell? And in making the choice, how are any of them "illogical"? They MIGHT be able to play with Sid if things go right but we make the pick we make and the timelines take what they take.

Now, if you get 1OV and you say "I want Martone because he can play with Sid", then fine but I highly, HIGHLY doubt that would be thought process of the FO. Wouldn't be mine either.

Well, that was the point of the poster you asked to clarify.

Pens lack RW and higher end center in the system. If they pick top 10 that is my focus. Maybe trade up if the lottery doesn't move them up. Billy Gueren gave up too much in my mind for the RD from Columbus. Hopefully it helps the value of Petts to get a 1. No way I want Hoglander as a small LW who the Pens have a bunch in the system. Pens will have after trades more ammunition to use as well. in 2025 and 2026.

I think a part of taking Hoglander would be getting Vancouver to also give up a good defensive prospect like Pettersson or Mynio and a 2nd round pick.

That would give us a prospect base of: Pickering, Brunicke, Pettersson, and Pieniniemi. Then you can still take a RW like Misa with our first provide we draft 3-5ov. The good news is that if we draft top 5, we will get an "organizational need" player.

Best case: Hagens (high end center) or Schaefer (high end dman)
Average case: Misa or Martone (higher end RWs) or McQueen (center/wing with size).

After that, it's a crap shoot like anything else.

Why do you keep referring to Misa as a RW? He is a left-shooting center who also plays left wing. What am I missing? Last year at the Mem Cup he was playing LW. This year he is playing center for the Spirit. He is listed as a C on their site. I don't understand.

Because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, never watches these players, and just yaps into oblivion.

I was referring to Martone as the RW but yeah, I see the typo.

And yeah, Misa is playing center this year but I don't think there's a chance he plays center in the NHL. I (and others) have him firmly as a wing prospect. Not unlike Poulin or DOC - yeah they CAN play center but wing is their NHL future.

Lol, ouch. Care to offer your expert analysis?
