Because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, never watches these players, and just yaps into oblivion.

Yep. Pretty much finish anywhere in the top-5 and you're gonna be getting a very good, albeit not generational, prospect. And someone might fall because a team will be unable to help themselves and take McQueen because of his size, ignoring his skating issues.

Just end up top-5, ideally top-3.

The fact that this isn't shaping up to be a super deep draft is kind of consoling because I don't think this team wants to properly tank as of now.

No one really knows though. They said this about 2017 and its real deep in hindsight

Sometimes I think there is more opportunity to hit on a mid pick in these type of years where there’s such little consensus

Well regardless of how deep the draft is or isn't, development needs to be of paramount importance. That starts with firing Sully into the sun.
If we pick outside the top 5 it will be at least 2 years before any of these guys sniff a pro roster. Probably closer to 3-5 before they even get a chance to be ruined by Sully.

I dunno if anybody in this draft is gonna immediately hop right in and make an impact at the NHL level tbh.

Word is Boston University is courting Misa, so there's your Penguins pick if it happens. McKenna and Martone are being courted by Michigan.

If you luck into a guy like McKenna, you 100% fire Sullivan. At worst, maybe a half or single season. You can't let someone like Sullivan who is waaaaaaaaaaay past his expiration date taint the next gen.

The issue here is definitely Sullivan more so than us winning more games than some of you want to win. If you commit to drafting and developing, then you can draft outside of the lottery for a decade and you can come out of it perfectly fine.

Sullivan is the issue no matter whether we make the playoffs the next three years or whether we win the draft lottery three years in a row. He is the problem.

That said, we need to draft centers of the future in this and the next draft for sure. If you can't land one of the big names, then go the quantity route and try to stick on a few picks.

As long as perfectly fine is not winning a Stanley Cup. Every team but one since the lockout had a top 5 pick who was top 5 in scoring for their team in the playoffs.

And yes, some were traded to those teams, but the majority were drafted.

Time to dust off this thread. Pens are slated to pick 8th right now. Ideally you are picking in the top-4 to get one of Martone/Hagens/Schaefer/Misa. There seems to be a pretty large drop off after these guys just based on stats.

If Misa is there I take him. Dudes a natural goal scorer. McQueen wouldn’t be bad either but I don’t know if we need another guy who’s skating seems to be the biggest weakness.

I base this off of the multiple prospect sites I follow and very little actual game footage so people can correct me where I’m wrong.
not wrong, but there is so much that we need im having a hard time trying to narrow it down.

Haven't watched him yet but I'm intrigued by Roger McQueen based on what I've read. 6'5" 200# center. But he's been hurt most of this season and I'm unsure of his return. The PIMS, depending how he got them, could be a concern.

Hf boards under mock draft is doing a mock draft and at 8th we took Frondell. 6 and 7 picks wer Eklund and Desnoyers. Also, looking at the standings best guess is we will pick somewhere between 6-10 IMO.

Will be interesting to see what we get w the 3 in the 3rd in that mock draft.

Eklund in the top 6 seems incredibly high.

I imagine if we are picking in 6-10 range Dubas targets Desnoyers tbh.

I think he'll try to insert a C into the system in this draft if we pick top 10 and might overlook winger talent.
