Looking like a clear top 4 are Hagans, Martone, Schaeffer, and Misa.

Then you have guys like McQueen, Eklund, Frondell, and Hessler.

After that take your pick on another 5-8 guys…

Sure this will change but how it is looking at this time.

Don’t think we will be bottom 4 unless we win in the lottery.

So you hope to get a McQueen or Frondell between 5-10.

What does it even matter when they are clearly out of the top ten anyways.

They are sitting at 14 OV at the moment. Clearly out of reach for any mentioned.

We are the 9th worst team in the league in terms of point percentage.
And the wins are mostly against weak teams: Montreal x2, Anaheim, Buffalo, Detroit, and Washington.

Literally only one playoff team on that list and they started their backup on the front end of a back to back because they thought the Penguins were the soft game.

The Penguins are a bad team. They will be lucky to finish outside the bottom 5.

bottom 10 finish and then the lottery movement. I am hopeful of a bottom 8 and getting the max move to 3. Wishfull thinking but with other moves for picks, time to replenish the ranks. Jarry can be moved after this year with some retention and Rust breaking down but will fetch a good pick and Karlsson moved for a nice package as well. Dubas has no choice her but to rebuild after this year.

i have about 12-14 guys higher than ek and maybe 7-8 guys higher than heny
, but it is early and i need to do lots more work.
Well I guess this means after the first 4-6 then the next 10-12 are all depending on team scouting.

Like with Hensley there are 3-4 D-Men all close

It matters little where we finish because we are still trying to make the playoffs but likely will fall short (again). It seems logical at this point.

If we want Sullivan to actually play this 2025 first-rounder, we should probably pick an American. Then again, Rutger's confidence was destroyed by the coach pretty early, so you never know.

Any elite grinders from Massachusetts in this year's draft?

All jokes aside, what about the Russian kid who left his home to play for Muskegon (I think)? Is he first-round material? I think I remember reading that this guy is both a playmaker and an ornery physical player. Maybe I am mistaking him for someone else. I think he is a center, too.

DuPont is going to be special. Not sure what our team will look like in 27.

With how the lottery is set up, the Pens have a higher chance of dropping than actually moving up. I didn't realize how badly the NHL messed up the lottery odds because of Edmonton. Finishing last but getting 3rd sucks

Bader said his early impressions are this draft is rather lacking in depth as well so you basically want to get into top 5 to get an impact player else you may not be getting one at all.

That's every draft. /shrug

Anybody the Pens are likely to get, probably like 5-8, is gonna instantly be the best prospect they've had on paper since Staal imo. But yeah, they really gotta land those top-3 picks to have a good shot at building blocks.

-edit- Also, somebody always falls. GMs can't help but go off the board. Maybe the Pens get lucky.

Hopefully they would be better than Pouliot.

From what I have read and ascertained, there is a decent top 10 but then it falls off a bit though there does seem to be a bit more of a consensus in ranking than last year. Last year, after the top 6-7 (who after Celebrini could all have gone in any slot), it was a complete crapshoot and multiple people had rankings all over the board.

"Not super deep but better structured in terms of ranking" is my outlook at the moment.

I'm starting to lean Schaefer if he's available when we draft. D-men take a bit longer to develop so grab him now and then go for forwards the next couple of drafts when the team really craters.

Hey hey hey HEY, now...

...

David Quinn coaches the defense. You might not like it but this is what "unlocked" looks like.

FFS letting Sullivan/Dubas just go out and hire his failure Boston buddy is a fireable offense all on it's own.
