I was never really enamored with McCann, mainly because he's a ghost in the playoffs. But yeah, I'll never understand the need to protect a, what, 35 year old Carter? Even if McCann wasn't in this team's plans, having the time to find a trade without the expansion draft looming was a no-brainer imo.
So many people here died on the hill of protecting Carter it was crazy.

back to this years draft..... it seems there is a big drop off after picks 5-6 it's still early but.....not having that 2nd may not be that big of a deal

That’s kind of the feeling I’m getting. Not a lot of talk about guys outside the first several picks.

Team is looking stacked. Think we're gonna regret trading Yager.

I never saw the need to make that deal other than another murrican. I liked Yager and it's funny to see the support he's getting because a lot seemed to sour on him before the trade and then suddenly he's now a player those same that soured on him, wish they never dealt.

Based on usage, it didn't seem like Sullivan knew how to use McCann at all and just threw him on Sid's line whenever he felt like it could work again. It threw Jared's game off after. The Pens could have signed him to the 5m/yr deal and he would have never been what he is on Seattle and we'd hear bitching about how Hextall killed us with his cap.

That's how it would have gone down.

I want a Russian kid that will stay overseas for a year so we can keep sucking next year and get McKenna.
normally they are my go-to pick because they tend to fall lower than where they are rated to go. but this year I'm hoping we are picking above where they are slated.

2026 is the year to tank. Watched a lot of extended McKenna highlights. Reminds me of Kucherov.
Yeah but only one team will get him. I’m still trying to learn this years draft class. Not sure what the top 5 looks like in 2026.

As I said, top 5 pick this year and tanking for McKenna next year would set us up well.

Martone, Misa, McQueen, Fondell...any of them would help make a great future top line of McGroarty-McKenna-Martone/etc.

I think it's gonna be tough to finish to any lower than like 5th imo. As stupid as Sullivan is, theres alot of awful teams this year

Keep on losing, fire Sullivan the moment the season ends, get some lotto luck and end up top-3, take Martone or Misa. Best possible outcome of the season.

Sid and Geno will continue to lead us to mediocrity. I thought we were bad enough to get through it but apparently not.

Lots of 8-11 picks coming up. Jets have had success that way but I would have preferred a clear direction.

if/when players start to bale, they won't be able to keep us afloat.
