2025 DRAFT Discussion

I have yet to see anyone I consider credible say he has motor or compete issues. If that is valid, I am fine with passing on him.

People on here were telling me like a month ago he is a riser and going top 10.

I don’t buy into the narrative that this is a bad/weak draft, and 6’4 guys with skill like Lakovic are always going to get drafted pretty high, unless there are serious flaws in their game.
Every draft that doesnt have a Mcdavid or Matthews type going first overall gets labelled as a weak draft and that's just not true. Plenty of value out there to be found.

🤣 in retrospect , some fans were always deluding themselves. Could have had a legit shot at a desnoyers, frondell etc.. at 7 we’re likely getting 12-14

Might as well use it for a Romanov or someone who can help the team for next season
You know , Yzerman not going to do it

I honestly think with the remaining schedule we'll get 9-10 roughly.

Among guys no one is talking about just discovered for myself Potter, very fast small center. , I know Draper scouted him . He should be playing for U18 USA . Not sure about his hockey IQ , cose his linemates sucks , but here in couple of weeks he will have very good linemates. Will be interesting to see how he's doing there

In retrospect the last 2 wins were annoying and unnecessary.

If he wants to make a big move he has to use the 1st since it likeky won’t be top 10 ... not much else to offer up in value

The schedule suddenly matters when we’re basically eliminated before yesterday’s game it didn’t matter and everyone thought we could get in 😂

We beat the canes somehow and a few other games we lucked out I’m sure we’ll win 2-3 of the remaining games to finish 12-14

He’s a teenager with a back injury. It looks like he had problems with it last season as well.

"He Can Be a Force in the NHL": How Roger McQueen Could Be A Steal At the 2025 NHL Draft

I steer clear of McQueen. A ‘lower body’ injury and back injury before being drafted? The kid’s a very talented glass cannon.
McQueen is my dream scenario outside of actually winning the lottery. The injury is the only reason the wings could get a shot at him.

Massive, mean and has skill.. if he played the whole season there wouldn't be a chance for him I don't think. The back injury doesn't actually scare me that much, I read an interview where they figure he had some random stress fracture from growing so fast that everything couldn't keep up. The main thing for me is hes the high risk high reward option. You draft him and he hits? You're talking about a guy teams are game planning for an impacts the game in a tonne of different ways

Outside of him, O'Brien and Martin are the obvious wings type players. I think they'll have a shot at at least one of them. I like that Martins offence really came on to end the year to go with everything else he provides

we're in a position with our prospect pool where we can probably afford a homerun swing here.

McQueen smells like Rasmussen 2.0. That is the one guy I hope is not on their radar, I can most likely get on board with anyone else.
Because hes tall?

There were people on here that didnt want Tkachuk in the 18 draft because they always assume tall=no upside. There are no real similarities in their games except their height. McQueen is a shooter with good hands and a mean streak, that is nothing like Rasmussen

On draft day Rasmussen wasn't exposed yet just like McQueen isn't yet either. Just like every other prospect who looks like they are sure picks like Zadina etc. It is fair to be fearful of a player like this. He doesn't look like he is a game changer or something we need. I rather push my chips in to get O'Brien or Frondell. We have assets to move up. Trade to Seattle Berniers + #6 (draft Frondell or O'Brien) for Larkin + #9-13. We have to get creative.

Ras had a back issue while in GR, McQueen has a back issue as well. Add in height and skating issues, yeah, that is how I came up with the comp. Didn't think it was that far off, jeez.

Count me in as also on board with taking McQueen.

Unfortunately people seem to do this for every CHl player 6’4 and up on this board.
