If we stay where we are we draft just outside the big four in the five position. With our draft luck that’s likely where we end up. Not sure who I would take there, maybe Desnoyers.

I can easily see us being the 2nd worst team this season after the hawks.

That would guarantee us 1 of hagens martone misa Schaeffer. Prior to the season I thought wed be a bottom 10 team but closer to 10. Way seasons going I think itll just be a bump on the road

Cbj seems to be playing way better than expected and I think losing gaudreau and playing for him will keep them away from a top 5 pick. If trouba sticks around in a Anaheim I can see them winning some games and they have alot of talent not to get a little streak going

Sens and sabres dont seem to have a problem scoring like us and I do expect them to start getting a few wins here and there

All this being said I think bruins are up almost 10 pts already and the other team closer to us for a playoff spot is tampa , does anyone expect us to surpass Tampa

The play is to "unintentionally" lose and start shipping bodies. Only thing we should be doing is giving a look at soderblom,Hanas and seeing what's there. Give a taste to danielson etc..

I don't think we will finish bottom 5. We have had some pretty bad puck luck so far if you look at goals for above expected. If we were to continue playing how we have been we should win more games than we have over the remainder of the season. I don't think it would be enough to turn us into a playoff team, but I don't think we are actually playing as bad as our record suggests either.

This would be if we stay on the path we are currently on. A coaching change or selling/adding pieces at the TDL could change that trajectory.

My money would be on us picking in the 7-12 range this year when all is said and done.

I'd argue in response that A- we got some points we didn't deserve earlier in the year with great goaltending and B- they've played a pretty soft schedule so far.

We'll see.. if you look at the next 10 games or so, it's a pretty weak schedule. If they're still 5th or 6th in winning percentage after that stretch, I think top 4-5 is in play.

That is a good point with the goaltending, but the flip side is we should have converted more scoring chances than we have so far. So I think a bump in shooting % will happen that should off-set the high SV% we have had at ES. Also Talbot has been good over the last few years, so I don't view that as totally a fluke thing.

Guess we will see what happens over the next month or two. Should start to give us a better idea where we will finish.

How many games did we play this year that we were severely out shot? Our defense has been horrendous and giving no production

Only thing that kept us from being next to chicago is our goaltending . Time will tell what happens but I'm banking on us being a bottom 5 team. We'll only get worse when we sell pieces

Hey man, I think we have gone from like 24 shots for per game to 28 shots for per game now… big progress, lol.
Lol they can shoot 100 times wont matter if we cant score ... at this rate after debrincat larkin raymond the next guy to hit the 10 goal mark wont happen for another 25 games lmaoo

dump tarasenko and a few guys while we can still get a decent return and just use the wings are struggling as the reason for the lack of production.Longer we wait the higher chance the return goes lower and lower at this rate lol

You might be the only person that believes that. When was the last time Detroit outshot an opponent? How many times has that happened this year? How many games have they actually looked like the better team? I can name maybe 3 or 4 instances where Detroit looked like the better team, and they didn't even win all of those.

This is a team that plays with zero fire, physicality or skill. We have 4.5 useful forwards, 2 useful defensemen and 2 useful goalies. The rest of the team can be jettisoned and it would make us better.

I'd be shocked if we aren't picking top 5 this year. This is not a group that will outperform expectations like the group from last year.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. So if we pick in the top four who would you hope lands in our spot? I value your opinion as much as anyone here because you zeroed in on Marcus Kasper very early in that year and it worked out well

1. That’s a lotta hyperbole
2. It’s a lot of the same group that did the outperforming last year

Don't forget Danielson and MBN. I'm 3/3 the last 3 years! :thumbu:

Honestly, I really like Porter Martone. He's not a center, but he's got the size and skill that make me think he's an easy 30+ goal, 80+ point winger. He’s got all the makings of a legit modern power winger.

1. YOU’RE a lot of hyperbole!
2. No it’s not. The guys that overperformed either left in FA or were traded. The guys that replaced them have been dog dirt. And Kane looks so disinterested it’s not even funny.

that’d be rykabin and i liked him a lot going into the year. Has the tools to be top 3 but has some major character issues and just doesn’t give a f imo
Oh shoot, well there goes that idea.

I am looking at that group of forwards that includes Desnoyers, Carbonneau, Eklund, Bear, etc. I think you could get a player from that group that exceeds their draft slot.

Or maybe we really do finish in the bottom 5 and get a guy from that higher tier.

I like Reschny a lot, but it is hard when your only chance to watch these guys is the Hlinka.

Carter Bear looks like a kid with steal potential. He’s been on fire offensively and I don’t see any glaring holes in his play that would scare someone off. I’d like to get out to a Silvertips game to get a better look at Bear in person.

Ryker Lee’s handling and shooting look high end. Skating isn’t all that great but he’s showing patience with the puck and has a lethal shot. Could be a solid give and go middle 6 scoring winger if we take him in the 2nd.

Jake O’Brien could be a sneak entry into the top 10 of the draft. Great hands, very creative, and has eyes in the back of his head. He looks to be about as pure a playmaker at the draft as you’re going to find.
