WC: 2025 Czech Team

Yes exactly ... just find spot for Klapka and get rid of Spacek .. its the only logical thing to do right now

As for the game after that bad 1st period it was very good, lots of goals etc. etc. ... but that PP needs to be seriously better ... the pressure is there, but the finishing is really poor .. that can cost us against stronger oponents
I am sure the players will be choosing different solutions in really difficult games. It is hard to play everything 100% when you know you are the better team by such a margin.

Also.. step 1 is done. We are in the quarters. Top 2 avoid Canada and Sweden.
Really not Canada please .. I think Sweden is still playable eventhough on home ground ... they will of course be favourites in potential matchnup but it will be like 60-40% in they favor 65-35% max .. but Canada will be 95% ticket home imo .. I dont think anyone will stop them to win the gold this year sadly

Canada looks to be unbeatable. I do think any of us, Swiss, USA, Finland or Sweden could eke out a win in a 1 game elimination but no easy task.

Sweden playing at home is probably a disadvantage to them. We will see.

I think a guy like Necas is due to wakeup a little in the bigger games. He seems to be going through the paces but I think he's due for a big moment.

Of course it can happen, its just about one game after all .. but I have a feeling they will waltz through the tournament unbeaten like in 2015 for example ... I think they will show us how insanely strong they are already in the game with Sweden and will destroy them like 5-1 or something

I can be wrong, and hope I am wrong cause obviously I want to see us with gold medals, but this is just what I think

We need to try to find better players for Neči. Which means get him away from Špaček.

Maybe lines like this?

Červus - Sedlo - Pasta
Lauko - Neči - Klapoun (all are NHL lvl)
Zadina - Vožuch - Flíček
Beranek - Kodytek - Stransky
Špaček M.

That would also be good, just get rid of Spacek, that needs to be priority numero uno right now lol ...

But I doubt Rulik will do much ...

It won't last but we have 8 .ppg or higher players right now.

2 surprises for me:

THREE are Dmen. No way did I see that coming.
One of them is NOT Necas.

Here it is by actual points:

Happy to see Zadina doing well. Beranek and Flek continue their ELH scoring here. Top line doing very well.

I'll enjoy this for now. Next 3 games are going to be tough!

2 guys that should be in top 10 are Necas and Spacek.. they need to get going.

So far we are looking better in the group games than last year. I did not expect that before the tournament, and am saying it despite the mostly awful first periods. The next two games against difficult opponents will tell us a lot more though in terms of where the team really is at right now. And against these opponents any kind of points total (zero or six or anything in between) is completely possible. It would be amazing to avoid Canada and Sweden, possibly even Finland and play against whatever fourth team from that group makes the quarters. Not that victory would be guaranteed against such team - anything can happen at the knockout stages - but it sure would give us a better chance than against the others. Finland has not been great so far but they are always dangerous, and Canada and Sweden, especially Canada, have really been a cut above.

100% agree. Winning of our group this year can be nice bonus 🤪 but it's like a miracle for us. Since 2012 when "8 teams" group system started we've won it only once 😂
Our group standings:
2024 - 3rd
2023 - 4th (we were even behind Latvia lol 😂 )
2022 - 3rd
2021 - 3rd
2020 - covid
2019 - 2nd
2018 - 3rd
2017 - 3rd
2016 - 1st
2015 - 3rd
2014 - 3rd
2013 - 4th
2012 - 3rd

Interesting. I don't read anywhere that we could play in the quarterfinals against a team from our group. That would happen if the home teams of Sweden and Denmark were to face each other in the classic QF format.

Quarterfinals cross over, so you get:

A1 vs. B4
A2 vs. B3
B1 vs. A4
B2 vs. A3

The semi-finals get re-seeded, so you can face someone who was in your group in them; it's not a fixed bracket.

You are not quite right. I was just about to edit my post. In the sense that articles are currently being published about what I wrote. For example, here
https://www.sport.cz/clanek/hokej-m...-kanada-nastat-muze-netradicni-scenar-5233190

That's my fault for misreading you then. My bad. So if it ends up that Sweden and Denmark would face each other using crossovers, they'll change the entire format to in-group quarterfinals so that the two host countries can play their quarterfinal at home? Interesting.

I had to use my browser to translate that article, so I'm hoping that it didn't get lost in translation. On a side note, the wording of the results I got by translating to English are kind of funny, such as describing the two quarterfinals in Sweden as "both duels in Sweden." I think that's the first time I've ever heard the word "duel" to describe an international hockey game.

Actually the first two championships with 8 teams groups were played with this format back in 2012 and 2013 .. the QF pairing were made inside the groups and not cross groups like it is now .. they changed it in 2014 and changed it for the better imo .. I always found playing QF against someone you already played in group absolutely stupid lol .. hope it wont come to this this year
