The head coach, Rulik, is making some waves with his comments today.

We are the defending champs.

Our Euro's look really good for our Euro standards.

Extraliga is a strong league for once.

Lots of good in Europe (due to busts in NHL unfortunatley).

So I thought I'd get 2025 rolling a little with some Rulik quotes.

Rulik thinks the rinks should all be the same size. Boy I couldn't agree more. Rink should be the same size everywhere! I say go North American size as it will create more seats for the Euro's at premium prices.

Talking about 2025... Rulik mentions that 2026 is best on best and we need to look at young guys that are cracking NHL rosters with an eye towards 2026. This is very sweet music to my ears. Specifically mentions Ivan and Kulich. Bout damn time. Same guy that brought in Spacek last year.

As everyone knows, my big pet peeve is when our best young Czechs play for the Calder Cup and are not made available for the World's.

I'd absolutely love to see Spacek, Kulich, Jiricek and Svozil on the squad. Maybe even Sale as he seems to have found a new gear.

I doubt any of it happens and expect a heavy Euro team with declines from guys like Necas, Pasta and Zacha (if they are available).

The one that went a bit viral.lol

Says he didn't like the Jiricek trade because it blocks Spacek.

Also reveals that my Oilers were in serious talks and that is where Jiricek thought he was going (dream come true for me).

For me.. looking this far ahead...

I expect a much more Euro flare in Sweden/Denmark.

I hate it when the swedes and finns host these events. Tickets are insanely expensive and they have a dead arena atmosphere. Their hockey amazing, their hosting sucks.

Dostal is about the only guy I expect from the NHL to be honest. I obviously hope for more but am skeptical. I obviously want to see the AHL/NHL fringe guys like Kral, Spacek, Kulich, Jiricek, Sale and Ivan. Would love to see some returnees in Rutta, Gudas, Zacha, Pasta and Necas but seriously doubt we got one of them.

Euro's that are playing well - Vozelnik, Zadina, Kubalik, Smejkal, Hajek, Kaut, Zboril, Tomasek, Cervenka, Sedlak and O. Kase. Simek as well.

I don't think we go back to back Gold's. We may not medal but I like the idea of building towards 2026. Maybe by then we have 6 NHL defenders... oh, who the f*** am I kidding.lol

Last year was a gift. I have rewatched those semi's and finals a few times now.lol

Do they profit? All I see is empty seats? I have a huge respect for the hockey they play. So please don't take it personal. Eg. Canada can't host a Hlinka worth a f*** either.
Non taken, i recognize exactly what you are saying. Only rich people can afford to buy tickets and they ain't hardcore fans and they also sell ticket packages to corporations, who sit on their hands. Take look at the 2016 WJC in Helsinki, tickets were dirt cheap, the house was packed and the athmosphere was insane. But sadly FIHA doesn't care about the fans in men's tournament.

Answer to your question, yes, they make profit, boat loads of them.

In 2022 the expenses were 22 685 613 million euros and profit 36 586 029 million euros.
So it's +13 900 416 million euros from that tournament.

In 2023, i didn't find expenses/profits but they ended up with +9 300 000 million euros from the 2023 tournament.

In total from those 2 tournaments FIHA made 23 million euros.

Thanks for the numbers. And that's great because it goes right back into the Finnish hockey program which keeps them strong! I'll add I bitch about the world juniors in NHL cities as well. Should be in small Canadian towns that are sold out and insane. Not to Leaf, Habs, Nucks, Oilers, Flames and Sens fans. Bring that shit back to Saskatoon!

I am afraid the wc in 2026 in switzerland will be the same. The switzerland games will be packed tickets sold out really fast great atmosphere and so on. But the rest of the games who aren‘t Canada vs Sweden… could be really empty. It‘s just very expensive for foreigners here in switzerland and i have respect for all those who make the trip. And swiss people only care about our NT and don‘t bother watching other games. The tournament is right after the olympics too which means there‘ll be less NHL star power since that‘s mostly the case in an olympic year, if a bedard or mcdavid came more people would‘ve watched canada kazakhstan. I really feel like that WC could set record low for some games. Imagine the stands like the EHT games where two non host teams face off at 3 pm that‘s what i imagine for games like denmark slovakia even. Games like that always get less revenue but the WC in Prag even had games like Canada GB seem packed which was great to see.
