So, the roster has been released. Volas, Ročák - Čihař, Šimek, Žemlička out (for now). Three of them will probably be added later. The absence of Čihař may be a slight surprise but there may be some health issues. The rest was kind of expected. Ročák was arguably the weakest defenseman vs. Canada, Šimek arguably the weakest forward. As for Šimek, I heard some very positive references about his work ethic and overall attitude, so I hope he will make the team at least as the 13th-14th forward.

Expected names out of the lineup except for Cihar, not playing him is stupid imo, but I don't want another round of arguments here lol.

What's more strange is that it seems we are playing only with 12 forwards tonight, giving us no room if someone gets injured.
You are still stressed:popcorn::D

They can still add a few guys. None of the cuts are shocking. Cihar is probably hurt becasue they didn't play him against Canada and that didn't make much sense. Shame about Rocak but he is small and didn't look effective against Canada. Husiensky is small as well. 19, undrafted. I'm not expecting much from him. Our D, in general, is small. Dvorak is a giant. Jiricek is tall. Port is tall. It's a very small group by draft standards. Right around 6 feet tall and 175lbs... that's not ideal. Galvas will play a lot and his 150lbs as well. So that's a concern going forward for me. Again, Badinka and Mrtka would've added a lot of size. I don't think Mrtka has played in a week though. Badinka was another issue. Just a shame because I'm seeing

6'4 and 6'2
5'10 and 6'0
6'0 and 6'2
5'11

No one over 190lbs.

Thrilled to see Jiricek in lineup.

Forwards are big. Very big actually. Good size and skill. They went from our weakness to our strength.

Goalies are huge.

Is it common to have a team where the F and G are much bigger than the D?lol

Play the big 3 (Jiricek, Galvas and Dvorak) and support them with Port, Koci and Fibigr seems to be the plan.

I like the team overall and think we win today. Hrabal will be very important. Hope he's on. I do like Milota and Kavan as well.

So D is a 6 out of 10
Forwards are a 7 out of 10
G is a 9 out of 10

Another plus that I like is experience.. Hrabal was the starter last year. Sale is toying with Necas point total. Stancl was a key player last year. While I'm not a huge fan.. Koci was part of it last year. Mastalarisky, Zidlicky were both on team last time. So was Galvas. That could come in handy at some point.

Cihar has a minor injury. Still 3 spots left, gotta think he has one of them. Augusta also said he can still be written in for today.. they have till 2 hours before the match. Hrabal is the starter.

Eda with Hradec and Mastalairsky are the captains. All of that is good. I'm not convinced Mastalarisky is the best choice for line 1 though and I like his game. Just feel he's better suited down the line a bit as an outscorer. I actually don't know much about Hradec so I'm looking forward to seeing him in, likely, a top 6 role.

Yeah I hope Cihar can get into at least the Kazak game.

The experience will go a long way. Kočí looked good against Canada.
Like I said before, Hrabal is our X-factor. He’s what potentially separates us from a Slovakia or Swiss for 2nd place.
Sweden looked really good today so I don’t know what our chances are against them, but if we do surprise it’ll be a Hrabal masterclass

And the Czechs certainly have a nice history of settling down around a hot goalie and being oportunistic. Nagano with Hasek. 2010 with Vokoun. 2024 with Dostal. Buy into the system. Keep it close and hopefully bury a few chances is probably Plan A. Swedes did look awesome today! I posted the D points last year and it Hamara with 7, then Cibulka with 2 and the rest of the D just kind of hung on. I think this D core is better as it's built around Dvorak, Galvas and Jiricek and our rest have 2 drafted guys. Time will tell. I'm not sure which goalie is higher ranked than Hrabal going in? Maybe US have Augustine? Not sure. I think Hrabal would be the starter for 80% of the teams here. I know we aren't a gold contender but I am excited before the puck drop! Agree about Cihar against Kazakhistan... I get the feeling that will be Milota or Kavan. Which is totally fine by me.

So little appreciation.
The most important player is clearly Hrabal, it's hard to say how it would have turned out without him.
Galvas and Jiříček were the best in defense - he was great in defense and confident in passing. The rest was solid, perhaps only Husinecký had weaker moments. Excellent PK are also a plus.
Sikora's best striker, Holinka, Kos were very good.
Šalé, as the team's biggest star, should be better, he scored a nice goal, but it will be necessary to add more.

That is a huge win IMO.. Swiss can be very complicated and played a good match.

3 points in the bag. Kazakhistan next.

Had to look.. so today was 5-1.. last year was 4-2 and the year before was a quarterfinal and that was 9-1.

So out last 3 games (in the 3 most recent tournaments) are 3-0 and 18 - 4 aggregate. That is damn good.

So this is what is pissing me off as a big Sale fan

Mastalarisky was 2nd in F minutes.. really? These are our top guys? Suck f***en bullshit!

Also, this is who Eda plays with! 3 undrafted players and Felcman.

I'm not kidding when I say that the coach will bench him for not being noticeable enough. If the idea is to give our best forward our shitties Dman and our shitties F then the plan is working perfect. Eda's goal was on the PP. Only thing done right was Galvas minutes.

They seem to think Sale should carry guys. Instead they should surround him with any other Dman and Forward and watch the points roll in.

This is stupid!

Here is line 2... all 5 drafted. Hradec led team in TOI.. that makes sense. Big boy, C, good at both ends.

Husinecky led the D in TOI... like how f*** do you justify that?

Husinecky and Mastalirsky were very good for national team during the season, so I guess this is why the coach prefers them. Even tough they might not be that good at this level

It's the EHT bullshit all over again.. they have some tournament in the season when all the good players are absent and use that to determine the lines. It's stupid and will backfire.

Thinking Masta and Husa are top line players is crazy. And they are basing this on August and October tournaments. Not the actual sesaon. Masta doesn't have a point a goal in regular season games. None of the top players are around for these October tourneys.. including for the other nations.

Mark my words, they'll blame Sale. The fix is so obvious.. move Kos up. Move Jecho up. Move Stancl up. Move Husiensky down.

And I like Masta.. it's not that I think he sucks or doesn't belong on the team. He's a bottom 6 PKer at this level and he'd be exceptional there. Or line 4 with Petr and Zidlicky... that'd be a great line!

I don't have much time for Husiensky.. looks small and has 4 points in Czech2. That is a very replaceable player and not 2nd in TOI at the WJC's in North America.

Something tells me this will continue. It's politics IMO.. let's cut the guys that went to North America and play Czech 2 guys.

But, honestly, what are Husiensky and Masta providing in Top line and top pair roles that I am missing? Both are welcome, not personal. Top line and top pair?

Yeah it’s weird and unfortunate about Hus and Masta. They both had a couple decent moments but not even close enough to justify their playing time.

Any chance reporters challenge coach in this?

Anyways, there’s still a lot of positives to take from the game.
Hradec was IMPRESSIVE. Our size is for sure a HUGE plus. Him and Felcman are imovable.

Sikora is a huge surprise. That kids got hands man. I feel like he didn’t have enough time on ice.
