Speculation: 2025-2026 Offseason Thread 3 -subtitle traded for a 5th round pick

I've probably been the most vocal about not signing Tuch at his asking price. Tuch at that price, I'd do.

My prediction now the Raddysh thing is sorted out:

Scenario 1) Signs Carlson and calls it a day
Scenario 2) Signs Trouba and goes hard on Tuch
Scenario 3) Signs Tuch and calls it a day.

There are rumours out of Vancouver, that the owner wants to cut costs for the team. The owner here is in a bunch of legal battles, so there might be a real off chance that Vancouver might be trying to move Hronek. If that's the case, stop everything and throw everything that you can possibly throw at Vancouver. I would easily move Geekie + Paul + Gage (Hometown boy) + Crozier/Carlile + plus all the picks to pull in Hronek.

2) Best case, but need to shed cap first

I think JBB would trade two seconds for his rights he is going trying to make a trade rather than go the RFA route and piss other GM’s off

Dallas is going to trade Robertson, they will have the money for Bourque.
 
I wouldn't make too much of the noise around Carlson or anyone else. We literally never do anything the insiders speculate we will. The Sergachev trade, Guentzel signing, etc were never on anyone's radar until they were done.

I'm not fully confident in JBB, but I am confident that he's going to cook up something more than signing a few UFAs and calling it an offseason.

We aren’t signing Carlson, that’s one move I guarantee you we will not make. Tuch you can pencil in, we are going hard at him. The only question is if we sign a top 4 defenseman. It’s entirely plausible JBB sees

BIG IF, we sign Tuch at 9.5M (not a fan personally), that still leaves room for a Trouba. There is a weird world where Edmonton might retain enough on Nurse where its worthwhile to acquire him. There is also a strange possibility getting Robertson for cheap might be a thing. The longer that goes, the higher the chance. Now without Raddysh, Robertson is a viable option depending on what they need to ship for his rights.

If we sign Tuch for $9-10M, we can make a strong move for Trouba if we move out money (Paul).

Still going to have to move out a contract (Paul's 3M) to make thst happen.
