I don't usually get carried away, but when Gabe was still on the board at our pick, I was ready throw a bottle at my TV if Drury cocked it up and took someone else... Hahahaha.
If GP isn't the absolute STEAL of the 2023 draft I will be completely shocked.

Here are the rest of his points, and Drew's goal:

BC's scoring through 5 games of the tournament:

Gabe: 2G / 4A / 6P
Smith: 3G / 2A / 5P
Leonard: 2G / 3A / 5P

I believe to this day that Bill Guerin prevented Drury from doing something monumentally dumb and took Charlie Stramel two spots ahead of the Rangers pick.

Too true. Always take the riser, never the faller
The problem of the past 20 years is that the Rangers have fallen in love with players that will be available at 20 and take them 7th and 9th overall and don't move down. When have the Rangers traded down in the first round? Always trying to be the smartest people in the room.

The Andersson and Kravtsov disasters hopefully humbled Drury a bit as he was still a part of that regime that oversaw those picks.

There's always a story of "some other team also liked the player and was ready to take them in the next couple of picks so they couldn't trade down" but ultimately when you're talking about someone like McIlrath then maybe he shouldn't have been so high on your board to begin with

i kinda think it's generally better to avoid both, though obviously every case is unique and i have no inherent problem taking either. but risers carry just as much risk as fallers. easy to get captivated by a new name off a late season hot streak generating buzz ala kravtsov. think the biggest thing with the late risers/fallers is being very self aware about how you evaluate a prospect. need to know recency bias isn't clouding your view on the riser and overexposure isn't causing the reasons a kid is falling to be greatly magnified.

Gotta good game going on between Swe and Cze here.

Finland has been mid in a lot of categories during this tournament but US cannot take them lightly. Need to jump out to a lead and not feed their confidence

I think we will see a Swe/USA final, but wouldnt be suprised if Cze pulls through. They are a heavy team

Looking forward to this one. Lets go USA!

Kinda rooting for CZE now so we dont have to deal with the home advantage factor.

Its a packed house of yellow, obviously

Got a few minutes to watch Swe Cze.

Seen 3 people get blown up and a break away stopped.

This game is going to become instantly boring the second I have to turn it off.

Cut to the 38 minute mark:

I have a cable login that has access to NHL Network, but as far as I can tell there's no way for me to actually stream the game. Is that correct?

Assuming the US can handle the Finns I am not looking forward to a gold medal game versus Sweden because they are f***ing obsessed with singing that song and its annoying as hell. Hopefully whoever they play just lights them up so they don't sing.
