Just wondering...for whoever wants people to eat some crow about Mesar because of this WJC....do we still have the right to prefer Kulich based on the same tournament? :D
But it’s reasonable to think if the Slovaks made the SF, Mesar would be on the team of the tournament. He was doing everything for them. He might not be Kulich level, but he’s a good prospect. The Habs need the speed up front too.

Plus the priority of that draft was our 1st overall pick. Why not make his life a little easier by drafting his buddy. And in turn, Slafkovsky has made it, now he can help guide Mesar through his ups and downs

Don't believe in the buddy theory. For myself. Not saying I don't believe it for Lapointe/Bobrov though. Mesar is too much on the perimeter for me. While Kulich isn't and has a heck of a shot. We might have a lot of smaller playmaker. Not enough pure skills shooter. Kulich was a no-brainer then. Still is now. Could Mesar be good? If he can changes a lot of things and becomes stronger, sure. I just believe the gap is big now. And while Mesar could improve, so can Kulich. What needs to be determined is always the same thing...who has a higher ceiling.

I wouldn’t say Kulich was a no brainer if he dropped all the way down to 28. I guess teams had concerns about him, like they did Kemell.

I also don’t know of these smaller playmakers the Habs have. At least none that standout with more potential than Mesar.
