They still didn't dominate like Bedard did, who accounted for 20% of the total points of Team Canada.
That says more about Bedard than anything though. If he was t playing we had Fantilli and a bunch of others.
On paper they still were better than this year, though, that I agree, although coaching seems to have been a particular deficiency this year, too.

But it could also be that I'm just becoming older, raving about the past and yelling at the clouds.
I don’t think so, you have reason to say what you’re saying. The Americans are better than ever - no doubt about that. But we’ve still got the edge. For whatever reason we continue to churn out generational players and the US hasn’t managed to do that - yet.

Was there any commentary saying Fowler has taken over the net now or was he put in today for different reasons?

Way too small a goalie. Vulnerable to wide shots.
A taller goalie’s pad may well have covered that unfortunate deflection that ended Canada’s tournament. But with Canada’s overall immobile defence, such a break would have only delayed the inevitable.

This D was always going to get exposed by the faster teams.
Unfortunately we have Celebrini up front and not much else.
Beck's line has been pedestrian.
While it was an unfortunate tournament for Canada, I came away impressed with Beck’s overall play. He showed speed and a grinding, fearless approach of play that will make him a contributing player for Montreal for the next decade.

USA coach won't really say anything other than he has confidence in both goalies.

I think they are going to Augustine in the final two games.. which, is sadly, fair.. because Augustine has played well in his two starts and Fowler has not played well enough to overtake someone with previous WJC experience.

That being said, if they feel based on Fowler's championship pedigree and his performance against Czechia in the shootout that he has more of that 'chips down' factor than Augustine, they may go back to him.

Canada is playing way too loosey, goosey. Poor discipline. Forwards are forcing passes with no lanes. D is being too aggressive.

Goal showed both those things. Forced cross ice pass with no lane gets picked off, 3 Czechs take off, Warren gets over aggressive and gives up outside lane & a free shot. Czech goal.

Lamoureux was a black hole of transition. Not entirely his fault as the forwards were not coming toward him, but hes are also very lacking in the playmaking department. Hes at best a bottom 6 in the NHL, we should have used Donovan way more (even on his wrong side) who at least can make a good first pass.

Well, don't tell Arizona fans that. They think he'll top 4 for them as soon as next season.

Reinbacher not eligible either, right now looks like we'll have 0 prospects playing next year, maybe we change it this draft

Yup. Everyone from 2022 will have aged out, and weirdly everyone we drafted in 2023 is either a fall birthday, like Fowler, making them too old, or already an overager.

At best maybe our 1st overall plays next year. It depends on who we draft.

Majority didn't watch the U.S game. USA was going to stomp Latvia & did.

It seems not too many watched the Swedish game either. That one was a good one.
USA probably best team they ever sent to this tournament. Scoring is three lines deep. They are big, fast and skilled.

Well poor Norway got relegated.

Germany won in OT, 5-4. Sounds like it might have been a good game. I didn't get up to watch.

Kazakhstan will be at next year's WJC, which is being held in Ottawa.
