OT: 2024 Washington Commanders thread: change we can believe in!

We couldn't stop Gibbs, and they stopped giving him the ball. They finished the year without Montgomery, so it doesn't matter what the run game was predicated on, you're 2 games away from the Super Bowl, your RB is averaging over 7 yards a carry, and you stopped feeding him the rock.
Montgomery had 7 carries in the game. Was he as productive as Gibbs? No, but he had missed the end of the season, as you said, and this was his first game back.

During the season those two averaged 25.6 carries per game. They had 21 carries in this game and were playing from behind for a reasonable amount of time, which I don’t believe was all that common for them during the season, so running it 4.6 fewer times than average doesn’t surprise me since regardless of how well you are running the ball, you are still chewing up more clock that way.

But sure, if someone is averaging 7.5 yards a carry on more than just a couple runs, asking why he didn’t get more is a logical question.

Also their longest fastest TD of the game was a running play.

JD was the MVP in my book too. Most valuable. Did more with less, like you said. JA and LJ played on stacked teams already. Our top non QB rusher had less than 800 yards and just 8 TDs.
Lamar, sure. but Allen? The Bills top receivers this year were Shakir, Coleman, and Kincaid. McLaurin is way ahead of any of those three, and I would take Ertz over Kincaid.

Cook is solid, but he's not that much better than the combined tandem of Ekeler and Robinson.

Unfortunately the NFL MVP goes to the most valuable in the league, not specifically to his team. Also not the “who did more with less” award….

That’s all the talk on the sports shows this morning…

Then they should rename the award. Best player? 100% Jackson. MVP? Allen by a reasonable amount given what he was working with after what they shed in the offseason because of the salary cap and still had a fantastic season. IMO of course…

Well the good news is we are playing the team with by far the worst QB left in the tourney. The bad news is we are playing the team with by far the best RB, OL, and DL in the tourney.

The injury report will be interesting this week. A Hurts who can’t run will be useless.

It’s like the Norris Trophy for best defenseman. It doesn’t go to the best. it goes to the guy who is most flashy and scores the most points. Never to the best defenseman.

NFL MVP is the same. Who is the splashy name who puts up the best stats.

Ok, we all know we're witnessing something special in JD. It's unprecedented, we know that. There are a bunch of stats and "firsts" that support how rare this is. GmFB just posted this one, to illustrate that every other (of the four previous) rookie QB to even measure it to the conference championship game, all of them were carried by their defense.

Not Jayden.

He's carrying this team, all season, especially in the playoffs. We all know it. He's the real MVP.
