I think during an earlier game with a rain delay Dan and Buck/Joe discussed that the umpires give the home team manager more of a say on whether or not to try and hold on to resume a game or call it. (IIRC in that game, in Kansas City?, the Jays were losing so it was like an eye-roll and "of course" when the team (Royals?) voted to just pull the plug because it meant they got an easy win with no possibility of a Toronto rally) So it's possible the White Sox asked to wait and see if they can get their B9th inning in to stage a comeback rather than waving the white flag..
At a one hour delay, the home manager is supposed to be able to call the game. As long as there is a window in the weather, he can argue for a delay.

Swanson was essentially worth the same as Teo last year… add in the KK addition (using Teo’s salary) and one of our best pitching prospects (Adam Macko)… how did we lose that trade?

Don’t use his numbers with the Dodgers or Swanson’s performance this year to dispute the fact that they absolutely maximized Teo’s value as a 1 year rental. Maybe they should have signed him instead of KK THIS offseason, but the trade itself was more than fine.

Would you rather have an absolute loser reliever who can no longer pitch in the majors because he’s a pos or a guy absolutely raking the ball year after year when your offense is the worst in baseball? Should have kept Teo and resigned him but instead trade him scraps. Resigned KK who is abysmal. Our outfielders are hitting for the worst numbers in all of baseball

Doesn’t matter f*** this organization until changes are made

Go on a run and win like 18 of 20 or even 15 of 20 and they are right back in it. 15 of 20, counting the 2 wins already, will give them a 38-34 record

Did you even read the post responding to you? He just explained why the trade was a win for the Jays.

Lmao. Never change Shaner. We need someone to remind us what a mostly horrible job this management team has done.

On a positive note, loving Davis at leadoff. Glad to see Vladdy and Bo getting back to themselves (minus the homers from Vladdy). IKF has played really well.

wow,the AL West is terrible the Blue Jays would be in 3rd place and 1 1/2 games ahead of Houston, maybe the Jays could still get a wildcard spot in the playoff there still is 2/3 of the season left.

Yeah it's an odd year (in both the NL and AL) with several teams with crazy good records on pace for 100+ wins and some absolutely historically terrible teams, and then a mushy middle of teams +/- a few games of .500 who are all in playoff contention really, still.

You can complain about management without making stupid arguments about trades, though.

I think their biggest issue is actually not doing something they previously preached, which was sustaining a competitive culture through internal development. Anyone can argue that the system is bare but one absolute case against that is the fact that Davis Schneider, an almost retired player who was seen as an “org guy” up until 2023, was given a chance due to his stellar play.

And we see guys who have excelled this year not get that chance despite plenty of players on the MLB club playing themselves out of the lineup. Barger is the only guy that actually got a shot, if we can even call it that. A cup of coffee playing a position he’s never had experience with, and being in and out of the lineup every other day.

Barger, Horwitz, Martinez, Jimenez, even guys like Berroa, Lukes, and Robertson can compete for a spot in the lineup. Roden and Kasevich are probably due for a promotion to AAA. I just don’t see as much player movement through the system as we have in years past and the lack of aggression is fuelling a more laissez faire approach which has emulated in the player’s performance.

I think it's time for Barger to get another shot, or at least Horwitz. They've both been fantastic in Buffalo. DFA Vogelbach, give Turner and Springer a bit more rest until they turn things around, and plug Barger in as a 3B/RF/LF to get him fairly regular at bats.

I know they're not just going to cut Turner and Springer and call up the kids, and that's fine. But they can reduce their playing time, and Vogelbach shouldn't be blocking guys who are earning an opportunity in the minors.
