I thought Rinzel and Buium pair have been fine since that first shift. But Rinzel did escape a pretty dumb turnover with some good luck.

**or compliments

Good description!

3 great plays from Casey on that one too with the breakout pass, keep in at the blue line, and set up to Snugs.

Rinzel looks slow tonight. I liked Buium and Casey as a pairing though.

Nazar line has been good again, they are due for a goal.

Coaching staff deserves credit. Moore on the top line predictably wasn't working. Two guys who lack hockey sense and McGroarty who looks like he's wearing weighted skates. And then you're wasting your best goal scorer on the 4th line. They seemed to recognize this and after the change, Snuggerud draws a penalty and then scores the big goal to get things going. Moving Casey and Buium together was a good move too.

USA-Sweden gold medal game seemed destined after back to back finals in the u18s for these age groups. And the bronze game last year. Should be another good one. Facing some adversity today should help them tomorrow. It's been too easy up until today.

Augustine let in his bad goal per usual but he came up with the big saves when he needed to. Gauthier's been fairly pedestrian but he comes up with the clutch goal.

Well, the guys slapped me in the face because I didn't really believe in them after the first period. Carle did the same. He was able to make changes that helped.

However, it is clear that we are too often in trouble in our own end and Sweden is much more dangerous than Finland. With this game, Sweden takes the gold medal from them again. They need the best game of the tournament, but of course that's how it should be in the final.

Of course, personal awards are pointless, but it would be nice if they were still given with merit and not by name.

Ton of guys on this roster that experienced losing gold to Sweden at the u18s a couple of years ago. They’ll be hungry

Reminds me a bit of the 2021 team having 5 or 6 guys that lost in the Hlinka to the same Canadian age group on that goal after the buzzer

Well 2022 they lost to Sweden, but 2023 they beat them.

There was some typical IIHF refereeing. Missed clear calls and then the mandatory ridiculously soft calls at the end. Least it went both ways.

The 04s weren’t on the 2023 team though and they make up the core of this roster
Danny Nelson, Zeev Buium, Oliver Moore, Will Smith, Ryan Leonard, Trey Augustine, Gabe Perreault, Fortescue I think are the guys that won it. Might have missed one.
