WJC: 2024 Team Canada Roster Talk - Part 1

Are we practicing and playing all exhibition games on Olympic sized ice? I think that would make the most sense to get a feel for the players but I am not familiar with the rinks they are playing in currently.

This is Hockey Canada. If you’re looking for sense, you may well be disappointed. These are not great thinkers.

I think they are more concerned with easiest point to gather for a flight to Sweden as opposed to finding a large sheet of ice to run a camp. And I can't say that I disagree with their thinking here. players can quickly adapt.

Dont care. There's likely better matches on the team anyway. They took Kunitz to play with sid but Kunitz ended up on the fourth line taking a roster spot from someone who coulda better played it. Anyway the equivalent to Crosby bringing Kunitz woulda been like Bedard brining Fraser Minten last year, but not even he gets to do that because too much changes throughout the tournament. I dont care who Dumais is lighting the Q up with this is the international stage.

Regardless, 3rd rounders dont bring their centreman to play with Canada at the World Juniors. Maybe Dans Locmelis can bring his linemate to go play for Latvia.

I didnt want vidicek at camp either but there he is and I wonder why?

I am pretty sure I know why, that is all I am saying.
 
On instagram I saw that Scott Wheeler said Dumais left the bench after not playing in the second. Hopefully he is okay.

I don’t think this is the first time they’ve given us a beat down, but it’s never a great sign. I take some solace in the fact that we had several key players scratched.

Once again I have to tip my cap to these University guys. It’s a testament to the importance of experience.

pretty sure the uni boys have whipped former versions of team canada who better on paper also so i wouldnt panic lol. if we lose 6-1 to usa in prelims or beat swiss 2-1 then maybe u can panic lol

Select the fastest guys. They’re the only option. Otherwise, the U.S. , Sweden and Finland will embarrass us. Don’t get caught slow. Particularly on the big ice.

I'm sure it was discussed many pages ago, but why isn't Wright going? He's not even playing in the NHL currently. Never heard of a team refusing to make an AHL player available before.

I don’t think he’s unlikable or has a massive ego. Everyone thinks that because the media asked him about going first overall and he told them what he thought they wanted to hear. He was trying to project confidence, but it was taken as arrogance.

But I do agree that he may not want to go to another WJC. That last one ended perfectly for him.
