Just an OK game. Played best alongside Macklin Celebrini for a few shifts.

A lot of players had a very average game and Dumais is not the one at the bottom of the ranking. Dumais made plays and looked who he is and will get all the offensive plays that we expect from him going forward. I am more concerned about the other offensive players, no one showed up and I will not name them here at this point and they are not from the Q, too early to judge…but Wood had both wristers, it is positive. Those games are tough though, no chemistry…
What did you guys think of Danielson today? Or that line in general, I could see it being a pretty good shutdown line with some offensive pop

Dumais and likely Vadicek will be cut, Dumais had an horrible game, turned the puck over alot under pressure and couldnt generate much offensively, his small stature and lack of speed was pretty apparent.

Yager was for me one of the biggest fallers last draft, was pretty underwhelming everytime I watched him and was rather vanilla once again today while Firkus wasnt much better. Both will need to have a big game tomorrow.

Liked the Beck, Danielson, Allard line, alot of speed, pace and smarts.
Thanks for the recap. Its only one game and league play is going to come into these decisions, but Yager, Dumais and Firkus were all being counted on for some of the "limited" offence, if all of them cant get it together that wont be good. Its obviously early though
What's next for camp? Is there another scrimmage tomorrow?
They scrimmage at noon tomorrow

why is Danielson playing 4th line wing? I know he hasn't lit it up this year for Brandon, but I think they could get more use out of him that 4th line wing...

Those lines are just rolling. Having him on the "fourth" line doesnt mean the ice time is like that

Or that maybe Dumais looks good in the Q but wont look that good bumped up a level. I am skeptical with a small average skater guy from that league.

Can only hope he makes my concerns look foolish but this isnt a good start.
Dumais had a good NHL training camp

For what it’s worth, history has shown us that the USports teams are surprisingly good. The fact that we beat them today is a good sign.
They're like 22-24 year olds that all played Major Juniors and are now amongst the best players in a league of Major Junior grads (many of whom themselves were top level Major Junior players by the end). It's not overly surprising, imo. It's a good test for the kids.

I'd say there's a 80% chance we get Benson back. He's averaging 15 minutes a night and not producing.
Prepare for disappointment.

Benson hasn't been appearing on the scoresheet lately, true. He's making a positive contribution almost every shift, however, turning pucks over, going hard on the forecheck, winning board battles with smart positioning and a quick stick, making creative passes, being the first forward on the backcheck, and in general being an annoying honey badger all over the ice.

He's fitting in well despite not scoring. He is in no way struggling, except for having zero puck luck recently. His center, Dylan Cozens, isn't scoring either, with only 2A in his last 6 games, which hasn't helped Benson's production.

Benson and the Sabres left today for a tough 3-game road trip, visiting Colorado, Las Vegas, and Arizona. This would have been an ideal, last-minute moment for Sabres' management to loan him to TC, but it didn't.

I'd very generously rate the chances of him appearing in the WJC at 5%.

Dec 12 game:

The worst defenseman has to be
-Jorian DONOVAN- 2 penalties in 3rd and multiple giveaways.

Sloppy plays and looking quite below average is
-Noah WARREN

Worst Forward has to be Owen Allard or Easton COWAN

Dumais doesnt get a Kunitz lol. Hes a 3rd round pick not prime Crosby.
And this team isnt 2014 Team Canada in Sochi. They are counting on guys like Dumais to produce because it isnt a team filled with NHL all stars, if they think a guy like Dumais works best or may work best with his regular running mate they probably wanted to have that possible option available.

Cowan played well I'm told when he got playing with unselfish players
Celebriniand Cowan looked good together
Lots depends on a rounded game .
Some guys get cut cause they can't kill a penaly or can't adjust to a fourth line

Don’t know who you are but you sound genuine. Terrible to have to judge off of two games but I agree there is going to be a big name given the boot.

With the games being played on international ice (200' x 100') there will be a premium placed on skating. At this level of competition you can't afford to be caught slow or you will be embarrassed. Badly.

On the larger ice Cowan has the skating ability to be effective. Any player who has only average skating, will be exposed. We can't afford to be caught slow.

Be that as it may, he still has 2 points in his last 10 games. This is why I don't like 18 year olds in the NHL unless they are Bedard level. As a fan of Canadian hockey, I don't want Benson to be a "honey badger;" I want him to be the high end offensive player he was in the WHL. If he can't do that consistently against NHLers, he should be sent back. I don't want to see another Cole Sillinger situation, but GMs never learn. There are lots of guys in the AHL that can provide consistent backchecking and energy.

This is probably a stupid question and I should know the answer but I will ask anyways.

Are we practicing and playing all exhibition games on Olympic sized ice? I think that would make the most sense to get a feel for the players but I am not familiar with the rinks they are playing in currently.
