Guentzel may see the writing on the wall in Pittsburgh. Life after Crosby is coming much sooner than anyone thinks.
I understand that side but it's a business in the end for most of these guys. Also one would think he would like to stay in the place he's spent most of his career??? Most likely he feels he can get more than 8.5 million or at least more term than what Pitt offered. We can't go there. Not many guys get better at 33/34/35 plus. Plus he is a winger we have them coming up thru our system next 1-3 years.

Guentzel surely knows another team with an actual future will give him a comparable contract. Nothing (black and) gold can stay. Id say its 50/50 Crosby is elswhere to start next season.

I'm not sure I hate that contract and I wonder if he's more concerned with signing to an aging team than he is with the contract offer.
So you don't mind giving a 30 year old winger 8.5 million X 7-8 years?

with Guentzel you have no idea how he'll acclimate in the locker-room. I also don't think Guentz would magically fix Kreider & Zibanejad for some reason. Drury is big game hunting though and he wants to reward this team, I respect it.

Guentzel is the guy I would move Laf off Panarin's line for. Put laffy with Mika and Kreider and maybe he brings some swagger to them. Panarin-Trocheck-Guentzel is a line that can carry you to a Cup.

I'm not paying the price for Guentzel. Again, why would we give up so much for a rental and just start that team's rebuild? They have no 1st. Let them get it from someone else.

Also remember that none of these people have inside info from Drury. This stuff is coming from the Pens and probably want to get more from Carolina.

Yeah I could see a team like Arizona or team like that with a future and maybe can afford someone like Guentzel give him 8.5-9 million long term

Is it me or does it seem like he is always injured? I know Lindgren has had his share of injuries as well just saying.
Yeah. Like Chychrun. Haha

He is.

He also sucks.
And this is the crazy disconnect I don't understand with analytics. Samuelsson has good numbers on a bad team. Out chances opponents and out scores at even strength. I wouldn't say he's great, but he doesn't suck. Maybe I look at the wrong numbers and watch the wrong games.

I would actually want Graves more. Doesn't get hurt and plays a very simple game that is similar to Lindgren, but without the punishment and general bad play. He also logs a lot of minutes and covers a bunch of ice. Also, I like getting players from better teams. Getting players from shitty teams usually does mean you are getting shitty players. Haha

I am highly skeptical of that, the guy loved beong a ranger. If he has the chance to come back I doubt he would turn it down.

I agree. I also think Drury isnt standing in the way of a deal, the Blues sizeable ask is. Also seems like the Rangers are just engaged more on Guentzel at the moment. But that can change whenever

I agree but am biased. If a national corporation were opening identical offices in NY and Dallas/Vegas/Sunrise FL, I guarantee you the payroll budgets would be different.

That said I doubt it will ever even be on the table. NHL owners collectively seem prettttty interested in doing everything possible to keep player costs down. Any move that would only selectively benefit a handful teams seems like an even further stretch.

Well, yea, except in the case of a regular company those employees need that extra money to handle the cost of living in the more expensive cities. In the NHL they do not.

Beauvilier price is very cheap. I think Rangers will have similar fall back options after Guentzel/Tuch/Buch/Toffoli tier.

Duclair, Zucker, Pacioretty, etc.

Apparently Buch's ego is in play as well. Ive seen a lot of people come in here saying the Rangers are on his no trade list. Sad!
If i was him i wouldn’t want to be back either.

You know u are going to be stuck with the tweedle dee and tweedle dumb on 5v5 and u will get almost no PP time being on PP2z

Other than us being a good team in general, i could see why a player with term would not want to be stuck here

Seravalli said the asking price is basically the equivalent of two firsts. That seems pretty reasonable. Like Othmann+1st. Idk but I do that all day.

I think Buchnevich getting to play with some of his best friends in the game again would be a plus not a minus lol

Literally a no brainer

He was commenting crying emojis on the NY Rangers IG live of the players skating out for our home opener, while he was employed by the St Louis Blues. He dedicated his hockey fights cancer night poster to the Rangers equipment manager, and in his first warmup against the Rangers he held his stick out and looked at Mika and Mika passed him the puck from our end to his

I get the sense that Zucker is going to be the forgotten man and go for peanuts close to the deadline.

Also, low key, Okposo will likely be the same.

Drury could add both guys for less than what Buch or Guentzel will require.
If Drury does go the Zucker route, would be best to wait like you suggest. He shouldnt cost much with his injury history.

Because Guentzel is a very good player and would make this forward group dangerous. That's a short term, go for it, view but it's possible. I don't want it to happen and I don't think it will but I also wouldn't be shocked if it did happen. I still think a team like Vancouver gets him.

Tuch would be terrific but its a pipedream.
I think the 2nd tier RW to play with CK/MIka isn't terrible especially if we can actually have a good bottom 6.
