I actually don’t think it even makes the team better. Too many on here are big name chasers every deadline.

I like big swings but at least it’s for offseason core youth pieces. Adding 30 year olds for the last six weeks is trying to scam the system to have star power you really can’t afford and it doesn’t work out hardly ever.

Save your nickels for a big purchase that will last like an Eichel instead of a Tarasenko every deadline.

A Guentzel or Buch would absolutely make this team better and deeper. I would actually prefer Buch because he is signed through next year. Saving your nickels and dimes also means you miss an opportunity this year and then the core is a year older next year and you never know what happens with injuries and such. Teams like Buffalo and Ottawa have been rebuilding for forever. It's not that simple.

That isn't going to win the cup. The 3rd and 4th line does not have the talent to pick up any meaningful playoff slack. Mika and Kreider HAS to be a threat.

Your 1st line should also be a threat to score.

Then Kreider and Mika should play harder/better. They are actively avoiding contact and the hard areas of the ice right now that they used too, as recently as last year, dominate.

Now, they may be saving it for the playoffs. Perhaps they felt they burned themselves out the previous 2 years going all out all the time. However, it is VERY rare that anybody actually does that.

Basically, if your first line needs to be a threat to score, then the 2 all stars already on the line should do it themselves. They shouldn't need another one. Hell, Vesey is a 30 point player and smart as shit. If Kreider and Z were on their game he would be a great compliment. Might even have a career year.

I read that the restriction on reacquiring a player on salary retention we previously acquired on salary retention lasted only one year. That would have expired almost a month ago.

I'm sure Florida was one of Tarasenko's top choices. I haven't seen anyone demonstrate that we weren't another of his top choices.

IF Zibs & Troubs were playing great & Kakko broke out like Laf... & Chytil didn't get crushed like a Faberge egg...

I am not advocating for a big trade. It would be meaningless unless Mika and Chris figure it out. I don't *have faith* they will.

That's the problem with people at the deadline. All they see is their chance to get a Cup.

That's not what you are buying. You are buying like 8 weeks of a player who MIGHT help you get a Cup, but statistically speaking probably does not. In reality you have purchased an increase in your chances by like 3%.

The problem is that long term investment probably yields far better increased chances in the cumulative. But no one has patience for that.

I think this is overstated but it is really hilarious that he scored at least once in every game against us in our last playoff series except game six (which Crosby missed)
