i am sure it has been all about retention and then also the ducks feeling they could get more trading vatrano and henrique separately. now that henrique is gone it is time to move forward. vatrano's scoring is not sustainable or in line with his career norms so if nyr pays based on this year that is a massive mistake. If the Rangers first was on the table for Vatrano he wouldve been here at the all-star break
Their wivesAre the Rangers linked to anyone who doesn't suck?
Boston desperately wants a center still
Vancouver and Vegas reportedly want guentzel but both have given up assets already
Carolina wants something and has assets
Lou wants something
But I don’t know who else is really shopping still
they are clearly trading out one of their other lhd this summer. who cares what the roster looks like today, their season is sunk. it is about what they can do before next season. they just got a piece that lets them trade another of their lhd.If
idiotic. Trading a good young center for another LHD
So you think we will sweep them?We are not beating Florida in a 7 game series.
Really? You're trading Miller? I'm not.im so mad about what colorado just did. if we had the balls that could've been us.
brisson is obviously going to pitt if they get guentzel. vegas still has plenty to trade.Boston desperately wants a center still

a center, with some speed, that scores the puck, that has compete and intensity, that is also a riser. this franchise lacks those things. we again have no centers in the system but this kid has a chance to be one. he has tools. not the guy to deal
if you stand pat then you should just rebuild. they built this team, in two years your best players are falling off a cliff.I don't want to deal anything and would stand pat. I don't think we can meaningfully increase our odds at winning a Cup with Mika and Kreider being so ineffective at 5v5 and we aren't gonna fix that situation, let alone fix it long term.
But if we have to deal something I'm not dealing Kakko for a rental. I'm not dealing a first for a rental. We have no seconds. I'm not dealing Othmann or Perrault. I doubt a player like Rempe or Edstrom really moves the needle.
Center is the most important position IMO. BMB is a riser with some good qualities but unlike a projected middle-sixer like Berard or Sykora where I see the value that they can be exchangeable pieces up or down a lineup as needed, I think you need pedigree at center all the way down. You can't have these hybrid Vesey or Fast types filling in at center. So I see Berard and Sykora as cheap top 9 quality filler pieces but you just can't do that at center. You need the studs and I'm willing to empty out some assets this offseason to insulate center further and/or find a future replacement for Mika.
BMB just doesn't fit that mold IMO.
So you think we will sweep them?
I think that's Drury's intent. While not a rebuild, a definite retool.if you stand pat then you should just rebuild. they built this team, in two years your best players are falling off a cliff.
they didnt want to give him the contract he wants this summer. people are missing that. they did not want to pay him and they had to make that choiceI'm guessing they think Cozens will step up into the 2C role for them, but still think its dumb to trade your fairly young 60 point center. Team is going to be a basement dweller for years.
based on what? he has bought each of the years he has been here and those were all worse teams than he has right now...I think that's Drury's intent. While not a rebuild, a definite retool.
Trading a 1st, Othmann and another pick or prospect really isnt mortgaging the future. Having them or not having them isnt changing the fact that a retool is coming when Panarin's contract is up. And Drury and Laviolette's jobs depend on winning. So its easy to say the team is stupid for going for it, but scared teams dont usually win anything.
Florida is already over the top. The question should be does Tarasenko make Florida worse? Probably not.Rangers fans hate themselves so much they saw Tarasenko come here last year and still think he puts Florida over the top. Easier to just be mad at the world I guess.
