Pacioretty makes the most sense. Overpaying for Vatrano would be a disaster. Patches on the cheap is a good addition.

Maybe Drury is looking for someone that can actually defend for a change. We have enough offense. Ruhwedel is a good defender for a 7th.

He has played 12 seasons and only 359 games which comes out to about 30 games a season. Pens defense isn't exactly great that he is just a fill in for them. He can defend that minus 7 sure shows it.

I tend to believe nyr is using patches and the good old brooks leak as a negotiating move to get the price of vatrano or buch to come down as the deadline approaches.

Pacioretty is fine, but if you are serious about this run they need another winger to really deepen this team.

Patches should play on 3 with Kakko and Wennberg

With him, one of Brodz, Edstrom or Rempe starts game 1. You can do better

If Patches plays up with Mika (another aging vet thrown into the top 6), then at least upgrade the bottom 6 theres room.

That would potentially push Cuylle to a 4th line role and really strengthen this team

Patches is an upgrade over Wheeler

Maybe Drury is using Max to drive down another team's asking price?
