One thing Drury is doing well here is dodging bad moves. Guentzel, Eberle and now Okposo.

A few things.

1 - There are not enough options for the Rangers this deadline. IN part because the best available players are IN our own division. They're not being dealt to us easily. Toffoli, Guentzel, etc.

2 - We spent too many assets at the last deadline. Adding Kane when it was clear that was not the right move removed an important 2nd rounder for us this deadline. So, now teams are asking for one of our two best prospects, a roster player (we have so few) or our first rounder. Assets are finite. Going for rentals every year has a down side. It requires your GM to be more picky about adding EVERY year.

I really don't see us getting past the Panthers. Of course anything can happen and we don't have a bad team. But I'm not seeing it. If Othmann was ahead of schedule or ready to come up for the end of this season, I'd have a different take. But his 5v5 game is lacking at HFD. Berard is the player they should bring up if theyre unable to add much more. I think he's earned a cup of coffee here. But i get why they'd wait til next year.
