We signed Kotalik to a 3-year contract with a limited NTC. Halfway through the 1st season we traded him to Calgary even though Calgary was on his no-trade list. He chose to waive his NTC to complete the trade. We got Prust back in that deal, IIRC.

If Eberle is available and can be had, I think id be ok dangling a 1st for him with the idea of getting a Smith or Patches for the 3rd line.

If they could make something like that work/fit, thats a seriously deep forward lineup

I am firmly on the 'don't trade the 1st' wagon. Use other pieces, not names Othmann, Berard, Perrault or mid-to-late picks.

Everyone wants to trade Goodrow because he isn't doing great this year. He is a playoff type player, something we lack.. Also check the box for physical and willing to stand up for a teammate. Wennberg does nothing for us in that department. Rempe won't be playing in the playoofs so again we will be knocked around and not the ones knocking people around at least Goodrow does that. Playoffs are a grind we need the Goodrow types in the playoffs not the softies.

If the ask is insane, i get it. But the hate on Frank Vatranno is insane. The guy has speed ( which this team lacks ) and has a rocket of a wrist shot. He'd slot in so well with Zib and Kreider. He would command more attention from the opposition just from those two attributes, that it would also open up time and space for Zib and Kreider. After seeing Guentzels return, i can't imagine he's gonna cost a ton. A little more bc of the 1 year left on his contract, but still.

Considering Mika refuses to shoot the puck vatrano gives us a pure scorer which we don’t have outside of Panarin. And he’s one of the only guys that can actually skate up and down the rink with CK and Mika which is a big problem for most because those two are rush guys they aren’t grind it out guys. Vatrano is a very good option again I think better for us than Guentzel would be.

Buch is the best option and make no mistake he’s a much better player now than the one he was when he left. But Vatrano is still the second best option

Goodrow's analytics will always be ugly but he is effective enough on the PK (aka willing to block a shot so a good player doesnt have to) and his PITA style has come out more with the 2 behemoths on his wing. We only need him to at least appear effective for another 40-50 games or so.

Goodrow doesn't knock anyone around, he's chasing the play 99% of the time he is out there and isn't close enough to anyone to make contact.

Also even pre Rempe, when was the last time this team got knocked around? They don't force the issue there but when someone decides that they want to play that game, the Rangers have been pretty good at throwing it back at their opponents.

Goodrow grinds about as well as my dead grandfather. It's one of the things he's worst at.

That's 'best' case scenario. But if we hedge, and for whatever reason go out in the first round, a pick in the 25 range is one that would help this team. They don't have many picks as it is.

if we're not gonna go apeshit I like the idea of adding MaxPac and putting him on the Panarin line on his offwing with Lafreniere moved up to Mika's line. Feel like that could be a really calculated move.

Agreed, i think Butch ( best option, but more expensive ) and Vatranno are the best options to slide in next to Zib and Kreider. They need a skatre and a shooter. Both fit the bill nicely, very nicely.

Because there needs to be a reasonable return on investment. No matter how good the player is, they are only going to move the needle so much. What we are getting has to justify the cost.

There is an argument to be had about where the line is, but there should be no argument that there is a line. Every move we make is a risk and every move we don't make is a risk. Obviously in the case of Guentzel, Drury decided that the risk outweighed the reward.

The same is true for the players who are left. We aren't going to just throw assets at them in a desperate attempt to fill our 1RW spot. If those teams want more than those players are worth to us, then we shouldn't make those deals.

I just want to remind you of my original post where I started by saying, there seems to be a conflict between results and the organizational mandate.

I don't argue any of what you wrote here because a lot of it I agree with.

Buch was PPG in his last playoff run. He’s a playmaker and a 20 game sample means not much.
